I don't know who wrote it or where it came from, but I used to used to be
able to:

*set custom_os "Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish"*

in my .slrnrc. Is there any sort of current-day equivalent patch like
this?

Well that is actually my patch, that I wrote with some significant
assistance from Jeroen van Nieuwenhuizen and Thomas Wiegner. It can be
