1) Worked.

2) It's complicated.

3) Would have gone smoothly under an older v. of Mac OS (apparently).

4) Since the first thing the installer does is update Office, it went to
a point where re-registering it became impossible.

5) With MS Support chat agent online, it took about 20 minutes to go
through the steps. (De-install, clean up the ~/Library, download a
special downloader (to DL an older v. of Office), run that, stop it from
doing the update, and then the registration went well).

Really complicated. I could do it but an average user would not have
found it easy - it took knowing where ~/Library is (Apple for some
reason hide it from the user unless you make it visible - another not
obvious thing to do - I already had it visible of course).

Then navigating two sub folders there, locating specific folders,
trashing those, etc. and so on.

Tedious.

But - finally - done and I can squeeze another 5+ years out of it - I
hope. Cheap bastard! Yep.

Now. To do the same for my SO's MBA. Except that was never
de-installed/de-registered from the prior MBA which has been wiped and sold.
