I waited after hearing about this; I had wanted to focus my criticism on China and the genocide taking place there, since that is the biggest issue. Also, I wasn't as convinced Putin was likely behind allowing the murder until I read the more detailed version of the story. (Revealing the fact that I didn't know that betrays nothing secret of mine.)

The truth is, I don't believe "going easy" on Putin, with "0s" or other criticisms or anything else, really buys anything. I think that no one can "buy" better treatment for human rights abuse victims in China by focusing on criticizing Xi Jinping instead of Vladimir Putin; the Russian authorities aren't smart enough to take advantage of this possibility.
