In addition to the ten or so other ways of charge status indication,
I found this configurable charge sound & icon tool for unambiguous status.

As always, I provide usable details so that others can benefit from what
I can learn on my own and impart to many so we all improve each time.

1. Continuous highly visible (large) charging indicator icon
https://i.postimg.cc/qvHYTf3L/charging01.jpg

2. Momentary connection sound & visible (large) on-charge status indication
https://i.postimg.cc/cL7z1D7N/charging02.jpg

3. Momentary disconnection sound & visible (large) off-charge status indication
https://i.postimg.cc/CKFQRjJn/charging03.jpg

As always, apps I suggest are free, ad free, gsf free, and google free.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=maderski.chargingindicator

No trackers were found when I ran an "App Manager" scan on the manifest.

The reason I needed this is my eyes are those of an octogenarian where the
huge size of the charging lightning bolt can be positioned anywhere for
instant visibility (either while driving or at home on the nightstand).

Please add value for all in your response.

PG&E has been losing power for about a day each time just about monthly for
years, but lately, due to stupid recloser settings, a couple times a week.

But it does not also include the charge level, like a dual-color
lightning bolt that would indicate percentage of charge. That the phone
is charging is only half the need. You know it is charging, but is the
battery at 5% (which means unplugging it has the phone die very soon),
or at 95% or 100% (to let you know once off the charger that you have a
full battery)?

It's nice to improve what we can do on Android, bit by bit, day by day.

I fully agree with you Vanguard; if we can find a free ad free gsf free app
that does _both_ the instantaneous charge status & charge integral, in a
positionable huge icon (visible to old eyes), with instantaneous
disconnect/connect sounds, that would be the cat's meow for all of us.

As you can see from this screenshot taken just now for you, I've tried
a bunch of battery indication utilities (including screensavers), where most
aren't both instantaneous slopes & resulting integrals at the same time.
https://i.postimg.cc/jSX2j0Mj/charging04.jpg

Almost all can give you the charge percentage (which you can see in all my
screenshots at the top right) but most show only the on/off charge status at
the specific instant you run the app so they're often wrong.
https://i.postimg.cc/sXBgKBsB/charging05.jpg

Or the indicator (e.g., battery percentage) is far too small to easily see.
https://i.postimg.cc/qvHYTf3L/charging01.jpg

What we need is a highly visible but also always looking charge status.
a. It must display instantaneous charge status (both audible & visible)
b. It should display charge level (visible is fine, audible not necessary)
c. It needs to be hands-free all the time (it must be always active)

Unfortunately, the free ad free gsf free google free apps I've tested so far
only do _some_ of what we need; if others know of better apps, let me know!

These are the ones I've tested (all are good but none are perfect yet).
https://droidinformer.org/tools/energize/ (Energize Battery Monitor)
https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/com.halcyonwaves.apps.energize

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.darshancomputing.BatteryIndicator
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.batteryinfo

There are too many to test, so it would be helpful if others can suggest
what they've tested (but please keep it free & ad free for sure, and gsf
free if possible). Thanks.

Isn't a simple battery charge % in the notifications bar the easiest
answer. Any attempt to indicate with an icon is never going to be as
accurate or as easy to read as a number.

Did you look at the five screenshots I patiently prepared for the team?
https://i.postimg.cc/qvHYTf3L/charging01.jpg (it shows 100%)
https://i.postimg.cc/cL7z1D7N/charging02.jpg (it shows 100%)
https://i.postimg.cc/CKFQRjJn/charging03.jpg (it shows 100%)
https://i.postimg.cc/jSX2j0Mj/charging04.jpg (it shows 91%)
https://i.postimg.cc/sXBgKBsB/charging05.jpg (it shows 90%)

Yours is a good question, which Vanguard alluded to, that the percentage is
already in the notification bar - but the whole point is that's miniscule.

You can easily see on a computer screen two things in the notification bar:
a. The charger on/off status is _always_ displayed (hooked up or not)
b. The charge battery percentage is _always_ displayed (charging or not)

The problem is not that they're not displayed at all times (they are).
The problem is my tired old eyes can't _see_ them since they're so puny.
(Especially while driving where the cable tends to lose connectivity.)

What would be perfect to solve both problems is a free ad free gsf free app
that does exactly what "maderski.chargingindicator" does, but with the
battery percentage also shown concurrently in a size sufficient to see.

That's where I need the help of the team, as _someone_ else must have tired
old eyes such as mine are.

What is needed is the following:
A. Sound & large icon for on/off charger connect/disconnect status
B. The large icon shows the battery percentage at all times

We have the first, and we have the second, separately, but not together.
What we need is a single tool that does both concurrently.

The text is the same size as most other text on my screen, so if I can
read SMS messages I can read the battery %.

Anyone can change font size inside apps but what about the notification bar?

Can you kindly snap a quick five second screenshot of your homescreen?
(You can post it in seconds to postimage.io without need for an account)

If you've done it, then please do tell us what you know that nobody else
knows. Thanks!

Are you implying we can change the font size of the notification bar?
If that's what you're implying, please *TELL ME HOW YOU DID THAT!*

You'd be a genius if you've figured out how to do what you just implied.
(Anyone can change the font size inside of any given app, like SMS apps.)

Note I'm using "percent enabler" to get the percent in the notification bar.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
"This is the original App from xda-developers. Don't accept fakes!
You can get support here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516913
Just install this App and click on "Enable Battery Percent". Then reboot.
You can uninstall the App afterwards. The setting will remain.
No root needed!"

If all you're doing is changing the font inside the messenger, forget it.

As I said, don't even respond if you haven't changed the notification size
as _that_ is what you are suggesting (but if you can't do it, what good is
your suggestion?). It just wastes our time for you to suggest the
impossible.

But if you've done it, then please do tell us what you know that nobody else
knows. Thanks!

We'd all benefit from your huge knowledge.

Unfortunately I need my reading glasses to read anything on that line.
Why is it impossible to make that line two or three times as tall?

I can change that font, but not the one in question.

He was bullshitting us.
Wasting our time.
Not only adding no value, but actually subtracting value from the thread.

If the notification size can be changed, he'd be my hero.
But I doubt it's going to happen as he didn't even understand the question.

However... let's be positive here.
I have _two_ apps which do the job... separately.
a. Nice huge lightning bolt & connect/disconnect sound
b. Nice huge percentage of charge

All we need now, is _both_ those two things in a _single_ app.
There are so many billions of battery apps, it's too many to test.

Anyone have _both_ charge & percentage in a single _large_ display?

It might be nice to be able to change the notification bar font size.
Dunno if that's possible though...

I'm curious. I have a Samsung on Android 11 and, as I recall, it did NOT
come stock with the battery _percentage_ in the notification bar.

I _added_ the notification bar percentage using this XDA Developers' app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent

But, as you understood, that notification bar is _still_ too small to easily
read (although what's even smaller is the on/off charge lightning bolt in
the notification bar). The damn thing is _inside_ the battery icon. Jeez.
https://i.postimg.cc/qvHYTf3L/charging01.jpg

That's why I needed the huge positionable yellow lightning bolt (& sound).
https://i.postimg.cc/cL7z1D7N/charging02.jpg

To me, the percentage is less important than the on/off instantaneous status
so that's why I ask what solutions _others_ have found that can help us all?

I found a usable workaround for the two things Vanguard asked for:
a. A huge positionable charging on/off lightning bolt icon (with sound)
b. A sizable (therefore huge) positionable charge percent level

As always, they're free, ad free, gsf free, and google free apps.
https://i.postimg.cc/8CCjC1VT/charging06.jpg
https://i.postimg.cc/yNrWgwVc/charging07.jpg
https://i.postimg.cc/gchrjS1L/charging08.jpg

It works, but it's _two_ separate free, ad free, gsf free, google free apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=maderski.chargingindicator
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.darshancomputing.BatteryIndicator

A third app adds the percentage to the notification bar (but it's tiny).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent

This gives us both, but if you can find _one_ app that does both,
that would (of course) be better than running two apps to do both.

Here is a history of the workaround (so far).
https://i.postimg.cc/qvHYTf3L/charging01.jpg
https://i.postimg.cc/cL7z1D7N/charging02.jpg
https://i.postimg.cc/CKFQRjJn/charging03.jpg

https://i.postimg.cc/yNrWgwVc/charging07.jpg
https://i.postimg.cc/gchrjS1L/charging08.jpg

Note the red dot that was added is a simple on/off flashlight widget.

I created a MacroDroid macro that verbally announces when the battery
reaches 30% or when it reaches 100%. No need to watch the status bar. I
think there's an Android speaking battery app that pretty much does the
same.

Understood. And agreed as it's logical.

For me, using that XDA Developers' app to add the percent into the status
bar works ok as I can see the percentage most of the time but I can't easily
see the tiny lightning bolt inside the battery icon at the top right corner.
https://i.postimg.cc/sXBgKBsB/charging05.jpg

As you suggested, at least one (maybe more) of the apps I listed prior that
I was testing definitely had settable audible alarm levels for user settable
charge & discharge percent levels that speak out the percentage.

What I love about this lightning bolt widget is that it's there all the time
(although that could be a problem also, since it's on top of apps too).
https://i.postimg.cc/8CCjC1VT/charging06.jpg

What would be perfect, I think, I haven't found yet:
1. A sizeable widget for charge status (on or off) with settable sound
2. The _same_ widget tells us the percentage
3. That widget "goes away" whenever an app is running

I'd prefer a widget that wasn't "always there".
I'd rather it was just always there whenever the homescreen is the display.
Not when an app is taking up the display.

So if someone has _that_ widget, please let us know so we all benefit.
(I'm sure what we need exists - it's just that there are tons of apps to
test!)
