Based on a reading of Dr. Terence Tao's paper:

....it appears that, assuming I've understood all the definitions in the paper correctly, the Bochner-Riesz conjecture is false.

Actually, the proof is easy, and I wonder if, criticisms of academic math aside, Dr. Tao presented this paper as a sort of relativization-argument-like thought experiment in what might be termed "conceptual mathematics": "What if we lived in an alternate world where B-R were true? What sorts of conjectures might we prove?"
