|There's a proposal to remove the code for the DECnet networking protocol
|from the Linux kernel. but what was DECnet anyway?
| |Microsoft software engineer Stephen Hemminger has proposed removing the
|DECnet protocol handling code from the Linux kernel. The timing is ironic,
|as this comes just two weeks after VMS Software Inc announced that OpenVMS
|9.2 was really ready this time.

"what was DECnet anyway?", not "what is DECnet anyway?"

Also, I wonder what he's trying to say with "OpenVMS 9.2 was really
ready this time" ? :-)

The rest of the article is worth a read.

Simon.

Errors around hobbyist access to VAX and a few quibbles; whoever wrote
that seems a little stale on OpenVMS. As are many folks. Haven't
checked to see if a VSI rep has left a comment.
