Okay, this is becoming a bit embarrassing.

So I was looking for an 1100/90 or 2200/600 Processor and Storage manual (or Programmer Reference Manual), but I couldn't find one online.
The best I could do is the manual for an 1100/50, which, since it's a C-Series machine, presumably has the same instruction set as the 1100/90 and it's later enhancement, the 2200/600.

Unfortunately, since the 1100/50 has an SSP, the contents of the System Status Register (which shows what's online and what isn't) isn't documented as it's handled by an ELF (Exec Link Function).

I don't recall whether or not the 1100/90 or 2200/600 SSR is documented in their manuals, but I'm hoping that it is since it is/was returned by a "Read System Status" (RSS) instruction.
But it might not be.

The best I can find so far is the U.S. patent for what would become the M7055 MSU which was used on the 2200/600, but the online/offline status bits are basically listed as "reserved for software" ... which is kinda useless.
And it doesn't help for the 1100/90s anyway as its SSR came from an M7052 MSU and IIRC was slightly different in format.

So happens to know what the SSR for an 1100/90 and 2200/600 looks like, and could wave their arms at it, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

As Test Engineering Mgr during the Sperry transfer from Bristol, TN,,, I acquired many dual Sperry mainframes that had to fit into a tiny floor plan in the Winnipeg (Unisys Peripherals Plant) They were all put on a raised floor with Cu ground plane, with dual Liebert ACU's and Line conditioners with all the I/O cable troughs in chimneys out to test all the disk towers in production.

Yet the dozen or more Burroughs A series were just sitting on a concrete floor. I also had every other computer you can imagine known at that time (dozens of ][e's, IBM-pc, PDP, ) and custom HDD testers.

But only my staff had to learn the OS, while I had a B20, B25's and Guzik testers and a bunch of others for IDE, SCSI etc.

Thank you for your reply.
I suppose I should have pointed out more explicitly that I have already looked at the Unisys Website for 1100/90 and/or 2200/600 documentation as well as at the Bit Savers Website.
Neither has anything for either systems beyond maybe some brochures and/or Datapro evaluations ... certainly nothing (at least obvious) dealing with the format of the SSR..

Thank you for the link.

As it so happens, I happen to have a copy of the Eagle (AKA Integrated Scientific Processor) manual somewhere in my collection, and while it mentions the System Status Register (SSR) and even shows the layout of part of it, it (like the U.S. patent for the MSP/MSU) leaves the "good part" out, say that the field is "reserved for software".

This field is supposed to show what IPs, IOPs, and MSPs are online in the partition and I ASSUME that this is initially set by the SSP, and presumably is updated by the SSP as well.
But since the 1100/90, and therefore the 2200/600, was the last 1100/2200 that were supposed to be bootable WITHOUT an SSP, I'd like to think that this field might also be updated by hardware directly should any of the "available line pairs" for any CEC component shows a component going offline on its own for some reason.
But that's just a guess.
If you happen to know for sure, I'd be interested to know that as well.
