An email from a friend looks like this (I've excluded the subject,
sender, etc:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/j0phlertwg6m4ne/InterpretingEmail.jpg?raw=1

But when forwarded its body content just contains this:

>
>
>[cid:D28034D9-90B0-46BC-986D-DF73F84EB28F]

What should either (or both) of us do to fix that please, so that the
image is embedded or launchable?

Terry

Use email-competent software rather than Agent. Which is not.

There are _three_ different 'Forward' options:

1) Forward quoted (Action >> Forward Message)
2) Forward unquoted (Action >> Forward Special >> Forward Unquoted)
3) Forward as attachment (Action >> Forward Special >> Forward as Attachment)

The first two options forward only the message text (as plain text).
Only the third option includes attachments.

Note: the third option also includes all the names and email addresses
in the original email. If you don't want to include these (say for
privacy reasons), another option you have is to save the attachment and
then re-attach it to the forwarded email from (2) or (1).

Thanks Ralph. The sequence is usually from hotmail friend to gmail
friend and from him to me. I'll pursue further.

Can you also please enlighten me about this cid stuff please, e.g.

It is a URL.

HTML images in messages can be either of two kinds:

1) Remote HTML images which your email program has to fetch from a
web server. The HTML code for the image contains a URL such as
"https://i.imgur.com/JEPDF1v.png" to tell your email program
where to get the image on the web.

2) Embedded HTML images which are included in the email similar to
an attachment. The HTML code for the image contains a URL like
"cid:D8D4825629DA9C64BC@SHOP.DOM" to tell your email program
which attachment is the image. The attachment has a Content-ID
of (in this example) <D8D4825629DA9C64BC@SHOP.DOM>.

Some email program in the forward chain appears to be putting the
image URL into the message text.

Clicking on a cid: URL may not give you anything useful, as a cid: URL
is only meaningful while inside the message it is from.

Thanks for the fast reply Ralph. I'll follow-up with my two friends.
