LM 21? No, not yet, but it will be based on:

https://itsfoss.com/ubuntu-22-04-release-features/

"Ubuntu 22.04 LTS will have Grub bootloader version 2.06 but there is a problem
with it. It has os-prober feature disabled by default. This means that if you
are on a dual boot system, Grub won’t probe for other operating systems
(...)
it’s more likely that Ubuntu 22.04 will feature Linux kernel 5.17."

Apparently the point of that was a security issue w/ mounting:

The list of issues and separations that Mint has w/ its repo parent Ub
grows ever longer.

But, if MX can get along w/ its own strategy of separation from its repo
parent Debian, then I guess Mint can continue doing so w/ Ub.

I like/LUV the way Mint *doesn't* Ub; I'm supportive of every one of the
differences so far.

I guess I'll have to look into how to get prober back into grub. I'm sure help will surface as 21 is out for release.

Yes there are instructions for restoring.

The OMG Ub page has one and also a discussion of the 'conflict'.

The comments section (91+) of that article are worth reading for the
discussion of the difference in how it (the problem or not) works for
UEFI vs non-uefi systems.

I was looking in there to see if anyone had come up w/ a boot parameter
solution.

It's already there. You only have to re-enable it in
/etc/default/grub... ↓

GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false

.... and then run...

$ sudo update-grub

In Manjaro, Calamares will automatically enable the os_prober if it
detects Microsoft Windows or another OS during installation, and will
then also enable the GRUB menu.

If no other OS is detected during installation, then os_prober is
disabled and then the menu is hidden by default.
