Hi friends,
unfortunatelyI think the time has come to replace Eudora 7.1 with
another more modern email client. I love Eudora but I get problems.
I have problems with the Check. I would not want to lose all the
messages I have and they are very many with many accounts.
Can you recommend a good and modern email client?

Pandora is designed specifically to be as much like Eudora as possible, and is kept up to date with modern formats and protocols.
It will also import all the information form Eudora, messages and contacts.
It's not free (although pretty cheap), but there is a free version you can use to try it out.

Not that I recall.

BUT...

You will need a PAID version to import more than one personality, one
signature, etc.

The "Importing Witch" (apparently the author doesn't like wizards)
allows for
accounts
contacts
filters
labels
messages
(though only one at a time, meaning you'll need five passes -- biggest
confusion is that [I just started the "witch"] it wants UAC privileges, and
that means it defaults to your admin account when selecting the mail
program -- choice of Eudora, Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Live [Outlook
Express, Windows Mail, and Unix Mailboxes are ghosted/disabled] -- I didn't
go further to see if I can change it to import from my user account; of
course, one could use the admin account to change the user account to
admin, do the imports, then revoke admin from user <G> )

Not as far as I know, all versions should import.
I don't use it so I can't really comment on it.
One way to find out, download it and try it!

I have only one problem with Eudora. When Eudora checks messages
automatically many account I see many page like it that I attach.

It asks if you want to trust this certificate in the future. Since you
continue to get mail at these locations, maybe click YES?

I'm not sure why there would be any difference between an automatic check and a manual check.
Presumably you've tried just saying yes to trusting the certificate in future sessions?

OK, but I have always to click on "yes" on all my accounts every time
I turn on the computer. Then I have no problems anymore. But when the
computer goes also into hibernation I have always to click on "yes",
because I don't work with my computer for 30 minutes.
I don't know what I can do to solve this problem.

I always clkick on yes, but the next time I get the same problem.
U use Eudora in a noteboo and in a PC but I get the same problem with
both. It seems incredible. May be the problem is I have 25 account.
In your opinion could be it the problem?

This is unclear... Unless you have Eudora configured as some
"autostart" service, just powering up the computer should not affect
anything doing with Eudora accounts. Starting Eudora, however, may produce
prompts, but it is not clear just what prompt/dialog-box to which you are
referring.

Depending upon configuration, Eudora may prompt for account passwords
when starting up (meaning one does not have Eudora configured to save
passwords between sessions).

If you are getting certificate errors, you need to follow the chain of
certificates and approve any with a "skull" icon -- and repeat that process
until you get to the bottom of the chain (which could mean multiple "fetch
mails" to trigger the next level down).

Regrets, I've been using Pandora for something like three years now,
and don't actually recall how to access the certificate chain (I did just
start Eudora, but it fetched mail with no problem, and the "last ssl info"
button on the personality configuration is just stating "no ssl
performed"...)

A 30-minute or so time-out also seems to imply configuration -- as if
your email login information is not saved permanently. However, the manual
states that if you don't have "save password" set, the passwords are saved
for the session, not timed out. Don't know how coming out of hibernation
affects Eudora -- if it treats it (somehow) as a fresh start-up it would
then forget passwords.

Unfortunately myEudora has a good config. with HermSSL.
Anyway it is configures in an automatic Check when I open Eudora.
I do't have any "skull" icon and I saved the passwords ... if I
understand you well. I don't know if I have to config. Eudora in
Tools/Options.

Out of curiosity: the latest Pandora version can import accounts,
messages, mailboxes, filters, etc. etc.

Did you say that you never see the certificate error if you check mail manually on the accounts?
Does any mail download when you see the error?
It's probably only one account that has the problem.

My problem is very strange because I never got this problem.

Yes, if I check email clicking manually on every account, I don't see
any problem. Every account works fine.

No, Eudora Eudora remains blocked and does not download emails until I
click "YES" on each certificate.

Is "Check Mail" checked on the properties of every account?
If so try removing them all and then adding them back one by one.
If they all cause the error then we need to look elsewhere, but at least that will eliminate whether there are a particular account or accounts causing the problem.

Yes, "Check Mail" is checked on every account.
I have unchecked all them and then checked again. But I get the same
problem.

Looking again at the screen shot of the error message, that doesn't actually look like a message from Eudora.
I wonder if it's coming from something else. Do you have any security software installed? If so, try disabling it temporarily and see if that makes any difference.

I have to correct myself:
when Eudora gets stucks on Accounts, if I click "Yes", everything is
fine and mails are downloaded with manual check. But even when and if
I click "YES", I am noticing a strange thing, in fact I have a bad
certificate. In fact, if I go to "Certificate information manager", I
have to manually add it to the secure certificates. But I repeat: even
if I don't do this, it's okay if I do the manual check.

They appear to both be pop3.live.com, but are using different IP addresses.

It always refers to the same "hotmail.com" account. Even now Eudora
blocks due to the certificate error, but then when I go to check in
Account Settings / Incoming mail / Last SS Info, I see that everything
is fine. I can also delete that account, it's not important for me,
but what I don't understand is, why do I have to click "YES" on all
the other certificates as well?

Perhaps it's a system certificate failure, which is affecting everything.
Have you tried installing it to the system as well as trusting it in Eudora?

I'm doing more and more careful tests.
The problem with automatic check is with all accounts. I get the
certificate problem with every account. But even if I don't click
"Yes" and do the manual check, then Eudora is able to download the
mail normally (even if on "Last SSL Info" there is the skull, Eudora
is enabled to download mail normally, if I do the manual check, the
skull automatically disappears). But if I don't click "Yes" at first,
everything is blocked.

I don't understand well what I have to do. Maybe HermSSL is not
working well? But I have the same problema with both computers.

I FINALLY DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM: it is BitDefender that created those
certificate problems on Eubora. In recent days I had tried to disable
it but maybe it was working in the background. Now I don't load
BitDefender anymore when I turn on the computer and Eudora works
fine. All this seems incredible to me. In fact I had configured
BitDefender correctly. On BitDefender there is the Option to check
emails "in and out" and I had removed the flag (disabled). But
evidently BitDefender was working on Eudora.
At this point I think I should change the AV or call the BitDefender
help desk to be able to configure BitDefender better.

SOLUTION:
the help desk told me to uncheck the box: disable encrypted web
scanning.
Now Eudora seems to be working fine.

Very pleased that you found the cause!
I did have a suspicion that the problem wasn't actually in Eudora, as all of your 25 accounts being affected the same made no sense as Hermes was apparently working fine to make the TLS v1.2 connections.
I hope it now keeps working!
