I finally got the Mythtv settings right and up it

Sound is working for sound from vcl and browser clips but not for MythTV.
None of the 12 sound card options in the Mythtv Frontend Audio setup produce sound.

Starting from a terminal generated several messages:

Cannot load libcuda.so.1

ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1089:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave

ALSA lib pcm_dsnoop.c:577:(snd_pcm_dsnoop_open) The dsnoop plugin supports only capture stream

ALSA lib pcm_oss.c:377:(_snd_pcm_oss_open) Unknown field port

ALSA lib pulse.c:242:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Connection refused

ALSA lib pcm_usb_stream.c:508:(_snd_pcm_usb_stream_open) Unknown field hint

Anybody ahead of me here?

TIA Alan

I like your sig, there is no warranty between you and your machine or you.

Please see <insert> to the pdf file of The Unix Bible.

I must conclude that some one wrote this bible, and in bits and pieces
someone has a clear picture .

You can see why the libcuda error message is there,
in this sample log. It's checking for all sorts of
video decoding hardware acceleration features.

https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php?t=4049

That particular box, the detections hint it is
Intel HD 620 in a Kaby Lake. That could provide
OpenGL for driving the screen presentation and
decorations. And Intel QuickSync would be the
Intel video decoder available in such a case.
QuickSync has been around for a while now. It
likely came out before Kaby Lake did.
