Yet again Chris, you and Steve own only kindergarten "solutions".
They only sound good to kindergarten kids who are uneducated and dumb.

To focus only on one of a million ways to kill yourself is folly.
You can't one by one take away all the methods of suicide.
It's whackamole logic.

Besides it's not "practically impossible" and in fact is common.
*Suicidal asphyxiation by carbon monoxide within a polythene bag*
<https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27620849/>

"*Suicide by inhalation of carbon monoxide is not uncommon* and usually
involves car exhausts or burning charcoal or defective boilers.
We report a case of a 25-year-old man, who committed suicide by
inhaling carbon monoxide gas inside a polythene bag in a bathroom.
The open carbon monoxide cylinder found inside the polythene bag
was purchased online by the deceased a few days earlier.
He had stated that the gas would be used for his experiment
on the environment. A suicide note recovered from his trouser
pocket revealed his intention for a painless death."

The media causes most (more than half) the methods of suicides anyway.
Take away the guns and publicize another method and they use that.

*Carbon Monoxide Poisoning as a New Method of Suicide in Hong Kong*
<https://ps.psychiatryonline.org/doi/full/10.1176/appi.ps.52.6.836>
"*This form of suicide is becoming more prevalent* because it has
been highly publicized, it is easily carried out, and it is
culturally acceptable."

Same with school shootings.
The media is the real problem.

Why don't you stop that first?
Oh. I know why. Your solutions are only kindergarten solutions.

They aren't expected to actually solve anything.
They're just meant to create a political platform.

So that you can argue with sensible people that your platform is different.

> In every other demographic and especially young adults, suicide is a

> the rates of suicide drop. It's so obvious and easy.

Why don't you try to work on the REAL problem which is mental health?
<https://www.cdc.gov/suicide/facts/index.html>

That's the real problem.
But solving that would be too difficult.

Kindergarten solutions won't solve the real problem.
So you and Steve have no use for real solutions.

The real problem is the media fuels these things. Not guns.
And the real solution is to work on adequate mental health treatment.
*Carbon monoxide suicide from car exhausts*
<https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8658238/>
"The importance of accurate treatment of psychiatric patients is stressed."

But that wouldn't be a kindergarten solution, now would it.
The real solution always evades kindergarten kids like Steve & Chris.

All they _really_ want is to create a fake platform that "sounds good".
They don't actually give a shit about the actual problem set.

Thanks for that. Can't fault people's novelty in trying to kill
themselves. Not the same as the implied sticking a hose from the exhaust
into the car.

Why not do both? Just like putting railings up on bridges, etc. and also
putting signs up with numbers to call if you need help.

> But solving that would be too difficult.

It actually isn't. It's just not very glamorous or a vote winner, sadly.
Especially in the US. It's easy to blame mass shootings on mental health
yet are unwilling to do anything about it.

You can still kill yourself with a hose from the exhaust. It will just take
longer. There's no longer any/much CO in the exhaust, because of catalytic
converters, but there will be CO2 and various other combustion gases. These
will not kill you in the sense that CO produces carboxohaemaglobin and
prevents the blood carrying oxygen, but they will suffocate you because
there is less oxygen in the car to breath. Whether the body will let you
suffocate is another matter: you will probably be gasping for air and going
frantic long before you suffer from lack of oxygen.

Doesn't work so well with electrical cars.
And it is hardly possible anymore with combustion engine cars with
highly efficient catalytic converters.

So you can't actually kill yourself that way.

You can however put a small generator in the car and kill yourself that
way.
