Vn 8.00/32.1272

I've created the following "Kill" filter for use in the folder
alt.binaries.e-books

Subject: ($/9 - ??? yEnc) When I right click on the folder and
select "apply filters to folder" it deletes all downloads with
"$/9 - ??? yEnc" in them.

How do I get this to happen automatically after the download?

What am I missing?

Any help appreciated.

Normally, I believe kill filters apply /during/ the download -- that
is; if the subject or author field is matched in the headers, the body just
isn't downloaded at all.

>What am I missing?

Change the filter priority to something higher... Make sure you don't
have any other filters that may be taking effect first...

When downloading headers, filters are applied _before_ the headers are
joined.

Your filter matches the subject _after_ the headers are joined. Your
filter does not match the subjects _before_ the headers are joined.

1. Before joining, there is no $ -- the $ represents
different numbers in different section headers.
For example, 1/9 2/9 3/9 ... etc.

2. Before joining, there is no ??? -- the ??? represents differing
parts of file names in different section headers.
For example, yadda.rar, yabba.vol000+15.par2, ... etc.

To filter headers while they are being downloaded, you will need to
use another filter which matches the subjects _before_ the headers
are joined.

* This will probably need a {} regular expression filter to be able
to match the varying parts (different numbers, different file
extensions, etc.).

* Your word-based filter expression can leave out the punctuation
(square brackets [], quote marks "") which are in the actual
subjects. But a regular expression filter cannot ignore them.

Try something like this, although I have not fully tested it.

Subject: {\[[0-9]+/9\] - "[A-Za-z0-9\.\+]+" yEnc}
