Just ran across this group. If anyone needs any rx2800 boxes for VMS (or HP-UX v3), I have plenty. Is this the current price range?

I got my RX2600 some years ago, maybe 10 by now, for $100.

I think that was a good price at the time.

I would have to check the CPU and memory to compare to
this list, though.

But I haven't checked lately, so maybe these really are
the price range today.

Yes, that is the current prices range from us for the rx2800. $100.00 for a rx2600 is a pretty good price. I would buy as many as I could for $100.. The RX2800 i2 are three generations newer than the rx2600, they do the same thing only much better performance in every way.

OK, now I remember that the Proliant machines have a series of
generations with the same number. I didn't figure out that i2 meant
three generations newer.

It was some years ago now, but it seems that someone was selling
off a farm of RX2600 boxes. You could buy them three or one at
a time. Not that I have used it all that much, though, but it is
a fun machine.

You can buy an untested piece of equipment at a hamfest for a lot less than
a tested and guaranteed piece of equipment from a recognized dealer. When you
buy equipment like that from a dealer, you are paying more for the guarantee
than for the equipment.

If your business is dependent on the system, by all means the guarantee
(combined with the support of the dealer behind it) is worth every penny.

If you are a hobbyist who doesn't mind some downtime and doesn't mind having
to change capacitors in old stuff before using it, it not worth it at all.
