Hi all,

A neighbour in the appartment where we live has a problem. She puts a
personal picture in her Whatsapp, and after a few days the picture has
dissapeared. She puts the picture back, and it dissapears again after
some time.
What can be wrong? I don't know which Android version, should I ask her?

Does her recipient see her correct contact photo when they communicatre on
WhatsApp?

I don't know anything about WhatsApp, but I can provide a picture of what
it "should" look like, where this is an example of a whatsapp picture of
someone who isn't even in my contacts (as I don't have contacts).

Notice that picture is one of their choosing - so it happened, for me,
completely automatically. I didn't do anything except communicate with the
other person and their picture showed up on my phone automatically.

I don't know if this is related, but I use for email the last, best
version of Eudora. But even that is 16 years old. It has a couple
idiosyncracies.

When I copy and image, usually off the web, and paste the image into an
email, I can send the email and i'm 99% sure the image always goes too.
And when I look in the outbox, there is he email with all the pasted-in
images. Often for days, maybe longer. But with a lot, when I look at
them later, the image has disappeared, been replaced by a grey
rectangle. Strange but true.

How does she do it?

It should be:

- open wasap, tap on the 3 vertical dots at the top right.
- select settings (might be different wording, mine is in Spanish, so
I translate.
- At the top, there should be a photo (or empty space, I can't see
that as mine has a photo), the user name, and an "info" string. Mine
says "available".
- tap on the photo at the top. You should see the profile. Tap on the
photo or space at the top — wait, not tap on the photo, but on the
camera icon. That opens a dialog to use the camera or the gallery.

It is possible that sometimes whatsapp uses a photo from the
google/gmail profile, if it exists.

She should check her settings inside WA and then test with you if you see
it. The changes go from her phone to the WA server to your phone.
