A lot of people who live near me seem to have a serious problem with empathy. There is this idea of a middle-aged man who has kids, who has had a little bit of career success and thinks he knows everything, and would like to lecture some young "punk victim" about "how life really works."

The obvious critique of that viewpoint is: You have no empathy, no experience with my life or skill set that I've mastered, and no understanding of what is happening to me or how to deal with it. People who want to show up and "stego-lie to me" or "send me body language signals about 'how *adults* would handle a situation like yours'" are just uncompetitive idiots who haven't thought about why I live here and why they live here. I am here because I've been forced to be here by wild mob extremists; they live here because they are personally and professionally unsuccessful, or else they would move to a city area that doesn't suck and isn't mindlessly stupid.

The transmission of "life advice" is sometimes OK--I do it too--but why give people dumb, worthless advice that has no application to the situation, or that is clearly invalid and just a sadistic gesture intended to bother someone who is going through a tough time who has made no life mistakes? Basically, the RVA area is stupid, and has demonstrated that there is not one person in this entire area who is even capable of giving good advice. Many of these clowns can barely speak.

In conclusion: Joe and Jill Biden would fit right in living in Tuckahoe. I like to think that a way, they already do.
