That does not work in my Agent 4.

I may have slightly fucked-up something deeper into the system many,
many years ago to make it not work but Gaggle Gripes and other
long-line posts are still displayed without word-wrapping.

Unless it is something simple, I'm not too bothered by it as I simply
ignore posts that don't wrap. Mostly.

But I do wish Gaggle would get their act together and format their
message boxes to 72 - 80 characters per line. It wouldn't take much
for them to do this and it would be a kindness to the entire planet
and our posterity, if there is one.

No, I don't see it ever happening. :(

That's funny. "Ha-ha", not "odd".

When I was a programmer and some things got to be many subroutines
and thousands of lines long I used to use the wife as an "Is this
fucking variable consistent or does it have a zero-to-oh confusion
somewhere inside this mess?" detector. She was damned good at it.
Better than the automatics.

The issue with my programming wasn't ignorance of the difference, it
was fat, slow, inaccurate fingers. I never learned how to type well
and fast at the same time. Either, yes, both, no. I also tend to think
everything I type is wonderful, magical, inerrant and fit for
preserving for Posterity. It's a megalomania thing. :)

She was good at finding other typographical boo-boos, too. Far, far
better than me.

You have *GOT* to be kidding, friend!

I would *never* do anything that dumb. I think. I'm sure. Fairly
sure. Anyway, Agent *works* [apart from line-wrapping] so I'd probably
never futz with her.

You might but you are a skilled programmer and expert, I'm just a
retired hack generalist. I was a programmer but never a very good one.
I was just the best the employer had at the time.

And cheap. :)

As mentioned, it doesn't bother me enough to do any real work on the
"problem" so thank you for trying to help.

And, yes, I've tried turning "O" ["oh", not "zero" :) ] off then on
again, lots of times. It has no effect on Gaggle Gripes.

Ah, well, such is Life.
Take care and thank you for all of your help over all of the years.
You are an Internet Global Treasure.

Clarification: the "automatics" usually just assumed a 0-o switch was
creating a new variable. As they should. They were piss-poor at
context, especially context that ran over a couple of kilo-lines.

Little wifey was *excellent* at that.

And some idiotic bastard's insistence on putting the zero and the
letter "o" so close together. Had "7" or "4" been just above the
letter key, I'd have noticed most of the typo's while typing but zero
and "o" look too damned similar. :)

I have a similar issue with "r n" and "c l" looking like "m" and "d"
in some typefaces when I'm reading but that's a kerning issue and
nothing to do with Agent.

Also an arrogance thing and maybe even an ego thing. :)

For various definitions of "never". :)

Well, not the effect desired.

Okay, yes, I *HAVE* also tried switching "zero"-key on and off a few
times over the years when this subject arises as it does every so
often. I don't think zero-key does anything in Agent 4. Well, not in
mine. Not often. Not that I've noticed. :)

Is it supposed to?
