Best I can make out, Dataplane was a Canadian company, formed in '91,
dissolved ? April 26, 1996.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/144924845005

Interesting, parallel/serial with a 80C188 mpu. As always a low-light,
horrid picture from Elizabethole-0. It's very hard to identify new
cards, even harder to figure out what it can do. The AMD chip in the
center is unreadable. Don't see a communications chip.

Well, it's still better than some of the photos from your
not-so-smart-phone. ;)

Anyway, I see 2x Am85C30 "ESCC" serial controller:
https://www.ardent-tool.com/datasheets/AMD_Am85C30.pdf

And also IDT7132SA70J 2Kx8 SRAM:

Is it really a serial/parallel adapter though? I mean, it might be, I'm
just not sure how did they come up with the "parallel" part.

We have two serial channels per 85C30, so 4 channels total. There are
also some MCI 488 EIA-232/V.28 Quad Drivers next to the HDD-26 connector...

Look at the hand written number on the sticker above the DB9.

; Okiok Data Ltd CP Intelligent serial communication module adapter file
; Edit History: 6/26/89 first version(1.0) By Claude Vigeant
; AdapterId 6FB6h
AdapterName "Canmax DLC 01 Serial Comms Adapter"

Canmax, sounds like a PLC or industrial controller protocol.

Cindy Walsh and Claude Vigeant both have electrical engineering degrees
from McGill University, and are members of the Quebec Order of
Engineers. Since joining the company in 1978, both have been
instrumental in the development of OKIOK Data's flagship products.

https://www.okiok.com/

Seems OKIOK was and is a thing. The main hits I get involve RACM or
whatnot security / encryption stuff. At this point, I dunno if Dataplane
had OKIOK fab the MM3E, or if Dataplane bought the MM3E stuff from OKIOK
so OKIOK could focus on their man products, security related.

If anyone wandts, they can contact OKIOK and track it down.

And now, the obligatory "Damn FTP".

Maybe Dataplane Technologies is a reseller... So they would have no real
connection to OKIOK. It would be akin to NYCE, LLC. putting a sticker
with their stock # on an 8514/A, doesn't mean they had anything to do
with it other than findting it, identifying it, and selling it.

Our tech overlords have decreed that MM3E and CANBUS did not exist.
Glory to the hive mind!

I do believe that; at one time ,data plane did exist.. As I have several other cards with similar logos...
some with multi external serial ports.. Similar to the octopus of the ibm multiport.. with
metal enclosed gang bank..

I threw a bid on it - and picked it up with no competition.
