This with Agent 8 on win10

First is that the folder "alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent" (a)
receives a duplicate copy of every post to misc.legal.moderated, and (b)
when I just went to p{ost} this it opened the editor with
misc.legal.moderated. Makes me wonder if I'll see any repllies to this
post...

Second, I added a newsgroup this afternoon and it shows up in my folder
list as
NEWSGROUP [2]
what does the [2] mean?

Clearly my folder->newsgroup list was messed up, so I deleted the
a.u.offline-read.forte-agent and re-added it to my subscribed folders desk,
and it seems to be all OK now. I have no idea why it had previously said
"a.u....forte-agent" but was *actually* misc.legal.moderated, but that's
fixed now.

It means you already had a folder named "NEWSGROUP" somewhere (in some
desk). To avoid having two folders with the exact same name, Agent
named the new newsgroup folder "NEWSGROUP [2]".

Often, this can mean you were already subscribed to the newsgroup NEWSGROUP.
But not always.

The newsgroup which it is *actually* subscribed to is in the setting at

(select folder) >> Folder >> Properties >> News Access Plan
Newsgroup: [_________________________]

The folder name can be different to the newsgroup [since Agent 3.0].
