Seeing I am having trouble finding my original post I will finish it
here With a new post, Paul may be interested in the results.
No the " Varian True beam Linac definitely does not run on Windows 10
or Apple 0S.

https://utmc.utoledo.edu/centers/cancer/radiation-oncology/technology/truebeam/index.html

I just finished my 4 day Hi dose (1200 rads per shot) treatment and it
has left me extremely tired but still vertical. :-)

Paul, there were no door noises, I couldn't see the door from my prone
constraining cocoon with my arms stretched out over my head.

All I could hear was the whoosh of air from the machine cooling fans, and
the click of relays as the machine changed position plus the soft whir
of gear trains, all very subdued.

Yes they not only could "peek" but had a view of the tumor in real time,
The machine is equipped with an onboard Imaging system.

I have quite a few side effects to overcome in the next while Fatigue
is one of the worst, I slept for 18 hours after the first shot .

My team of three ladies where wonderful, Those Gals sure know their stuff

Till next time.

Rene

That's what I was thinking. You weren't
posting because of fatigue.

So no StarTrek noises on the door ?

Or the sound of a phaser for the shot ?

It's good they have an image of what they're doing,
which should give a much better result than guessing
whether the beam is on target. I suppose this required
"the usual contrast agent", because you can't do
nuclear medicine without an injection of something :-)

Did you get to add any new periodic table entries
to your exposure list ? You know, the Technetium 99 list.

I have somehow screwed (naw) up and have the same post running in 2 NGs
so I will continue only in the windows 10 group and drop this one,
Oh BTW,I am really impressed that the machine can shape and size the
beam to a tolerance of less than 1 mm makes one feel much safer.

As machines go, that's a nice design.

I'm surprised they can run an imager, without
some assembly spinning in circles. That's an advancement
right there.
