Should i be able to edit files in a directory to tweak the apps?

ie, the Android Weka only uses set data files, not my own.
now share-to-rpint is gone

It seems everything needs an app these days.

In older versions of android I could see the unix root menu.

Maybe I should use term?

I'm told android is based on ubuntu?
