Win 7 Pro laptop.
Shared a folder.
But it has a lock icon on it.
Set all users permissions to all.

At Win XP laptop I see the Win 7 Pro laptop but it asks for a username
and password.

The Win 7 Pro laptop has only an administrator and there is no password.

How do I get access to the Win 7 Pr from the Win XP laptop.

To connect to the Win7 device from the WinXP device, it
is what Windows 7 thinks, that determines whether it works.

You can examine the picture here, for the logical tick box to control it.

https://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/323015-how-change-password-password-protected-file-sharing.html

But my experience is, depending on what updates are installed and so on,
it'll just have a mind of its own. It could still request a password.

Finding a lock symbol on it, is not encouraging really.
I'm not even sure what dire meaning is associated with that.
but it hints it won't be easy to fix. Most of the time when
I'm receiving guff during file sharing, it doesn't need
any fancy icon to make life miserable. The failed login
dialogs are proof enough in such cases, that it'll have
none of it.

Paul
