Yes. I can't speak for everyone, but I used Turbo Tax for years and
thought it was fine. About 5 or 6 years ago, my taxes got more
complicated and I switched to a professional, who I've been using ever
since. It was well worth it.

Lots of folks likely already have your info.

In my case my retirement system, banks, investments, utilities, etc. I
get or pay virtually nothing in the US mail. Most is set up to be
completely automatic and requires no continuing effort from me other
than to keep my checking account balanced for the incoming and outgoing
electronic cash. So I am on many many servers already. What's one more?

Correct. However I get about half my income from investments and they
are not always easy to predict. If I'm too far off on the minus side the
feds make me pay a penalty so I'm conservative in my withholding.
An interest free loan is always cheaper than a penalty...

I often get my neighbor's mail and visa versa. I'm really glad not to
have to depend the USPS for serious stuff.

My guess is that you are on lots and lots of servers just like me. And
what makes you think that Uncle Sam's servers can't be hacked? But as
they say, different strokes for us old folks. Carry on...

MY biggest problem is getting all the year's income data together in one
place. Once that's done all I have to do is plug and play with TT. I'd
still have to get the data together for a human, but to be honest I
trust servers more than I do humans...

Yes, but only bits and pieces. The only people who have it ALL (as far
as I know) is the IRS.

No. As long as you prepay (I do quarterlies) the amount of last year's
total tax you aren't charged a penalty. The only time we got a refund
in living memory is the year we didn't have to take RMDs. If Trump did
nothing else, he deserves our thanks for that.

I don't have a choice about the IRS. I do about the rest.

Lovely! Especially the reason for giving it a LATIN name!

And Romansh! Who knew?

The downside being that the provider of gmx.ch is a German company. The

No need to even google.
FIrst there are more privacy-oriented search engines, like
startpage.com and duckduckgo.com
Second there's a complete list of tld's on Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_code_top-level_domain#Lists

There is no such thing as "the whois program". Several of
them exist, some with, some without that feature. And not
all OS's have a whois program.

My point was a simple one: not everyone knows that CH mean
Switzerland.

Yes, as Joerg pointed out, you can use Google to find out, but not
everyone would think of doing that, and some people don't even know
how to do that.

The number of people who would think of using whois to find out or
know how is even smaller.

My point remains: many people who see the abbreviation CH wouldn't
know what it means or even try to find out.

That goes for just any abbreviation, not just country codes.

That's true of almost all abbreviations, but some are *much* more
likely to be understood by almost everyone.

"US" stand for "United States" and it's a rare person who wouldn't
know that. That's very different for "CH."

It is obvious, being in an address, that it is very probably a country,
and if not, a top level domain. Thus it is easy to find out.
