Thunderbird TLS version?

My provider warned me about they changing to TLS version 1.2 and/or TLS 1.3

My current thunderbird will stop working according my provider.

Is there a way keep using thunderbird, I didn't find anything on
changing Thunderbirds TLS version.

Saying 'Thunderbird TLS version' is confusing to me.

The security protocols over the years have been TLS 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and
1.3 corresponding to 1999, 2006, 2008, and 2018.

The default condition of Tb 78 is to not support TLS 1.0 or 1.1, but it
can be configured to support that antiquated security in about:config.

However, Tb 78 does not support TLS 1.3 (as far as I know). Your news
msg here says your Tb is 91.7.

Are you saying your provider ONLY supports TLS 1.3? I haven't heard of
that; I would imagine that most support 1.2 & some 1.3.

Version 91 something and in the mean time I found out that TB is using
1.2 and 1.3.
So why I get a warning from my provider, I don't know.

The biz about which TLS v. are supported in about:config are such as "3"
and "4" in .max vs .min in security.tls.version.(max/min) where 4 is 1.3
and 3 is 1.2.

The default config in the Tb 91.8 is max 4 min 3. I don't currently
have a Tb 78 up, but a v. 68 about:config says max 4, so that must mean
that 68 & 78 supported 1.3

It's probably just some generic "you'd better make sure your application
supports $TLSVER or it's gonna stop working".

Thunderbird is derived from Firefox code. There is a
pretty complete copy of browser source in the Thunderbird
tarball.

When you do a Thunderbird build, a .mozconfig file allows
you to specify "build a BROWSER please". This is a test
that the browser code still works, as a browser, before
a developer compiles "build THUNDERBIRD please".

What should happen, is the TLS support should track
the version of Firefox (whatever Firefox ESR was used
to make TBird this time).

If you were using Thunderbird 2.0.0.23, then yeah,
probably no TLS 1.3 in there. But other versions might
well be OK for this.

Your version of Thunderbird is so new, you can
still smell the "new car aroma" in it.

*******

Someone wrote an Add-on, to use the web browser part.
No, I haven't tried this, as I have no need for it.

https://discourse.mozilla.org/t/using-thunderbird-as-a-web-browser/80976/9

If you made Thunderbird with an Add-on visit this site,
it might give some idea what the TLS support is like.

The copied output is intended to show the level of detail offered.

Thanks for help and suggestions.
It seems that TB will work just fine, I wait and see what happens.
