How can I change the "open with" list for different filetypes?

Sometimes it is really warped.

It seems everything can be opened with python or termux,
but flipping browsers seems impossible.

But it is a generic problem I don't get with other OS

Here is how it is done using the built-in feature on Samsung phones
(other flavors of Android will vary):
1) Settings > Apps > select the app in which the file currently opens >
Set as default > Clear defaults
2) Click on the file you wish to open > select the program in which to
open it > Always

There are apps that you can install that will give you finer control. I
used to have an app called "Default App Manager" from the Galaxy Store,
but it stopped working some time ago...
