I'm starting a new thread on this. I found out how to install
Termux - found very clear instructions using google.
OK, so I have it installed, but I still don't know how to
do what I want. My main objective at the moment is to move
all the files in the folder mp3/ inside Dropbox out of
Dropbox. I don't find any of these files at all, using the
find command, i.e.
> find */ -name *.mp3
Nothing. I suspect now that Dropbox is just an app that
looks at the Dropbox cloud. So these files (I have about
40 Gb of mp3 files) are not actually on the phone. Would
that be right?

If so, I will have to somehow download them all from my
laptop. How do I do that?

The reason I want to do this is that I want to reduce
Dropbox to below 2 Gb, so it is free, but I still want
the mp3 files on the phone so I can play them there.

Correct, on mobile, the dropbox app just provides pointers
to the cloud files. For individual or selected group of files
it provides an option to "Save to Device".

That is how I expect Dropbox to work. But I'm not a customer of theirs,
so no first hand experience.

I'd look for command line Dropbox clients that work in Termux. A quick
glance finds dbxcli, but you'd need to compile it yourself.

https://github.com/dropbox/dbxcli
