Dolphin does not auto refresh. I know about F5 but it used to update
without provocation.

A search on Google suggests that it is an old problem and adding ones
name to the storage group will fix the problem.

Unfortunately Mageia 8 has no storage group.

Any suggestions?

I just tried it on a test account, and it's working for me with no extra groups ...
$ id
uid=1001(tester) gid=501(tester) groups=501(tester)

Checking under strace shows it's using inotify to detect the new file.
See if installing one of the following fixes it for you. Please install only one
at a time and then test to see if it's working. I'm thinking it may be a missing
requires in dolphin, that's been installed on my system as I have most of the
desktop environments installed. If that's the case, we need to know which of
the packages is missing so it can be fixed.

I will have to devise a reliable test and that can't be until tomorrow

On spec I tried "inotify-tools-3.20.11.0-1.mga8" ,which I don't have,
in software install MCC it is not found.

To test I also tried "knotifyconfig-5.76.0-1.mga8" , which I do have,
MCC didn't find it either.
I didn't proceed further. Are they part of a library package and not
listed individually?

Just remembered. In mcc, use the drop down selection button to change the setting
from "Packages with gui only", to "All".

Well fortunately NO.

I say that because it didn't solve the problem after all
A file downloaded with the browser was recognised without refresh

But not with the TV streams downloading tonight.

The folder was showing empty until I hit F5

Tomorrow I will try with Mageia 6 and get a comparison.

I booted the alternative test Mageia 8 partition and the problem does
does not exist
I can down load a TV stream and Dolphin populated the folder immediately.

I switched back to production Mageia 8 and the fault persists.

The "notify scan" of test Mageia 8 shows

I always get interrupted by other peoples trivia. Perhaps I need to
invest in a pile of bodies to discourage it. :-)

Pile of bodies not a good idea for privacy. Too much paperwork and
health considerations. Police or other security may get involved and
that will mess up your schedule.
