Hi all,

Using Windows 10 Pro x64. I checked for updates, and there are 5 updates.
Windows starts with this one:
2021-05 Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057)
Status: Getting things ready - 0%

But it remains 0%. Nothing further happens.

How can I start this procedure?

Many thanks in advance,

Fokke Nauta

You just have to wait.

To monitor what is going on open the task manager and look at what is
running. I use the Performance tab to monitor the CPU, Disk, etc.

Usually when it appear nothing is happening there is disk activity,
where things are being arranged for the update. Some times it will
show the update had completed 100%, but it may take a several minutes
for the disk activity from the upgrade to stop

Thanks.
I waited for one hour but nothing happened. I broke off the update
process and downloaded Windows10Upgrade9252.exe. After starting it up,
it solved the problem.

Good to know.

Running "winver.exe" will tell you.

I don't see a reason at this point, it isn't

1909 again

C:\Windows.old now exists

Then the user can decide what is next. Whether the
destination is 21H1 or not.

Using "cleanmgr.exe", and pushing the button in the
middle for the "second-level cleaning", gives a
mechanism to remove C:\Windows.old . After Windows.old is
removed, Windows Update can compute that the 21H1
Upgrade should be downloaded.
