Install updates using "sudo urpmi --auto-update" and see if that fixes the
problem with mcc.

Report back if it doesn't.

are now orphaned which I am ignoring as I did this a few years back and it
caused chaos !

What is the name of the mcc packages/s and the instruction to re-install
may be that will work :(

$ rpm -q -f /usr/bin/mcc
drakconf-13.27-1.mga8

What version of the webkit2 package is installed (that's the one that's failing)?
I have ...
$ rpm -q webkit2
webkit2-2.36.7-1.mga8

Same for both what do I need to do to re-install them - yes, a bit of a
long shot :)

The issue only affects some hardware/video drivers. My three systems have never
shown the problem.

There's a new webkit2 update currently in the core updates testing repo.
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30866

To install the testing version, as root install and run qarepo.
In qarepo set the mirror to the mageia directory on your preferred mirror, such
as "http://mirror.math.princeton.edu/pub/mageia".
Set the release to 8, and select the Core checkbox.
In the RPMS box copy and paste the following lines ...
lib64javascriptcoregtk4.0_18-2.36.8-1.mga8
lib64javascriptcore-gir4.0-2.36.8-1.mga8
lib64webkit2gtk4.0_37-2.36.8-1.mga8
lib64webkit2gtk-gir4.0-2.36.8-1.mga8
lib64webkit2-devel-2.36.8-1.mga8
webkit2-2.36.8-1.mga8
webkit2-jsc-2.36.8-1.mga8.x86_64.rpm

Select the Update button.

You should then be able to install the testing version of webkit2 using either
mgaapplet or using "urpmi --auto-select".

Regards, Dave Hodgins

Overriding existing handler for signal 10. Set JSC_SIGNAL_FOR_GC if you
want WebKit to use a different signal

(WebKitWebProcess:2663934): Gdk-ERROR **: 15:00:03.186: The program
'WebKitWebProcess' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
(Details: serial 199 error_code 2 request_code 154 (GLX) minor_code 34)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)

Needless to say I cannot access any mcc menu item.

That error message I find most strange. What accessibility bus? What
remote application? Why is mcc trying to connect with a remote (not on
your system I presume) application. It sounds like your system is set up
differently that most. Do you have accessibility stuff on your system?

I do not understand these reference to WebKit.
What is it? Why is it running? Can you try getting rid of it, and seeing
if that helps? (It seems to be an Apple browser engine. Why MCC would be
using it I do not know but it seems to be messing it up, maybe)

The dbind-warning is from dbus. It's only used for communications between
applications on the same system. The term remote in this case does not been
over a network, it's just the way dbus handles messages.

The webkit utility is created by Apple.

Mageia's webkit2 package description "WebKitGTK is the port of the portable
web rendering engine WebKit to the GTK platform".

Vincent, is your system using wayland?

Looking at o/p from rpmlist.sh I see :

egl-wayland-json
kwayland
kwayland-server
lib64gstwayland1.0_0
lib64kf5wayland5
lib64kwaylandserver5
lib64nvidia-egl-wayland1
lib64qt5waylandclient5
lib64wayland-client0
lib64wayland-cursor0
lib64wayland-devel
lib64wayland-egl1
lib64wayland-server0
wayland-protocols-devel
wayland-tools
x11-server-xwayland

Looks like it is, is this the problem and if so how do I remove them -
assuming it does not break any thing ?

It's not necessary to remove them. Just log out, then at the login screen,
before you enter the password, click on where it says "Plasma Wayland",
and select "Plasma" (or "Plasma on Xorg" depending on the login manager),
then enter the password and login.

Will try that - its possible due for a reboot as uptime is 40 days - which
for me is very short :)

I have plasma but not Wayland plasma or not and have booted to it loaded
mcc at it now operates - at least offering the correct menu options.

Thanks,
