hello i just became the new owner of a iic and have been restoring it to my best knowledge and skill. i completed working on the keyboard and was next looking at various boards trying to identify issues. this computer came with a applied engineering z ram ultra 3 upgrade which is nice. i noticed that there is a large 3.6v 100mah battery soldered onto the board. the battery is labled, varta mempac. anyway there is brown guck oozed around the battery that im guessing is battery acid. the question is can i remove the battery as im guessing it is just for some memory preservation or something. maybe someone could link a replacement battery or a hack around solution thanks.

Eek! Get that sucker outta there!

I think that board includes a real-time clock, and the battery is to
keep it alive (though it might also allow you to keep a RAMdisk alive).
If you snip it out, you just won't have time (or RAMdisk) past a power
down, 'till you replace it.
