I got some updates yesterday, then shut down. Today, it does not boot.
Gets as far as displaying "kubuntu" in middle of the screen then frozen - Num Lock or Caps Lock do not toggle the indicator lights. Hit reset button, same thing repeats. I looked in a couple of Ubuntu forums, see nobody else reporting same problem.
So might it just be a hardware fault?

IIRC you get the option before booting to boot into safe mode.

I suspect there is a problem with the graphics driver. There might be
some error messages in safe mode giving a hint.
