Mint 20 Ulyana
Cinnamon 4.6.7
LG Volt
Android 4.4.2

About a week or two I could no longer automount my phone on my Linux system. It started about the same time the issue with the sluggish nemo performance started going around.

My phone appears to be mounted in nemo, but directories in it are not detected.

Please let me know what kinds of command output would be useful for debugging this situation

My /etc/fstab:

Mint20UlyanaCinnamon4.6.7> cat /etc/fstab
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
# # Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
# # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>

On my phone I have to tell the phone that my computer may access its
directories, every time I plug it in to the USB port

It doesn't show up in the mount table
It is not mounted by the mount command

But by a particular application that 'pseudomounts' it - typically mtp

I cant remember what you need to install - mtp-tools I think drags in
the correct dependencies..

here is a good walk through

That climate change is masquerading as science, but is now a purely
political and commercial movement designed to justify central control of
energy - the worlds biggest industry - by governments, transfer of funds
from first world countries to the 'victims' in third world countries and
massive handouts to crony capitalists who supply demonstrably useless
'renewable energy'.

Since it has precisely the same aims and effects as 'socialism' which
has also been annexed by profiteers and globalists except it masquerades
as being based on science. the signature file is apt...

I saw a blurb about narrowly escaping mass extinction due to *too low* CO2
at the last ice age.

A search for "minimum CO2 needed for plant life" came up with around 150
ppm.
The global warming people seem to want to get to that near-starvation level
of 180 ppm at the end of the last ice age.

Other articles point out that the plants around us evolved at a time when
global CO2 levels were about 1,200 ppm.

So it would seem to me that the plants would say "Let's not be too hasty,
here." with efforts to get CO2 back down to 180 ppb levels.

My takeaway: There is probably no urgency here to act if the plants actually
were close to starving and would like higher levels of CO2.

The motives of those hurrying to tax "carbon" etc. might actually be
suspect.

Anyway.....worth doing the "minimum CO2" search, in my opinion.

I think that humans were created via animals to solve a waste disposal
problem that plants have.

Plants had almost completely poisoned themselves with excreted oxygen, a
deadly corrosive pollutant, and their food supply - carbon dioxide -
had all been eaten and lay underground locked away in vast beds of coal
where they couldn't get at it.

Facing ecological extinction, they encouraged the evolution of mobile
animals by providing them with a food source, knowing that one day they
would be able to dig down and release all that lovely plant food into
the atmosphere!

Well, its no less fantastic than a marginal increase in a trace gas
combining with a climate system that has been poised on a knife edge for
a billion years so that it will now just tip into a completely new regime

My sisters husband is a Phd Geologist - his speciality is dating rocks
using chemistry and radiology:

"The climate simply cannot be that sensitive to CO2 or we would have
seen catastrophic events in the past at times of high CO2. We haven't"

How can we reconcile this with the raw physics that CO2 is in fact a
(minor) greenhouse gas?

The answer is in the end extremely simple. Its not physics, its
*metaphysics*.

In order to create the scenarios that they do, the climate scientists
take late 20th century warming, compare it with late 20th century CO2
increase, and *multiply* the raw physics by a 'positive feedback factor'
to get the answers right.

Those equations projected forward gave scary future temperature rises.
Come et 21st century the rises however largely stopped, and really it is
no warmer today than 1998. While CO2 continues its upward march. Leading
to wide scale 'adjustments' of temperature records to pretend that they
were in fact still increasing

What had happened?

The Occam's Razor answer is of course that the original assumption - the
metaphysics of climate change that the *only _significant_ driver of
late 20th century warming was carbon dioxide* was in fact *wrong*.

And in fact there was probably more total 'climate change' coming out of
the little ice age pre wide scale industrialisation than there has been
since 1950

But there was a problem. A political and economic one. As Al Gore should
have said. "Climate Change was a most convenient lie". One that
reputations, careers, political parties and whole industries were now
dependent on.

Can you imagine the political fallout of admitting that 30 years of
massive handouts to renewable energy, state control and taxation of
energy, demonisation of oil companies, one research paper after another
based on the *metaphysics* of climate change, not challenging it but
using it to 'prove' this or that - from dead polar bears (they aren't
dying) to rising sea levels (they are not rising any more than they have
post the ice age) more forest fires (none that cant be explained by
simplistic eco tampering mismanagement and failure to control growth and
make firebreaks) tornadoes or hurricanes (both about the same as they
ever were)..can you imagine if a president were to declare - "well! this
is all bunk!" ?

I think one tried.

Green industries are in the trillion dollar bracket globally. All based
on junk science. They are now too big to fail.

The Green Emperor has no clothes, but no one dares admit it.
What is quietly happening is that funds are now being channelled into
new nuclear, because its getting obvious that once upwards of 20% of
your grid is windmills and solar panels, You have a serious problem when
the wind drops at sunset and everyone wants to watch Bill Nye do his
performing seal thing.

You need reliable baseload and nuclear is the only one you can
reintroduce without carving into the CO2 myth.

Of course its still greenwashed with lots of windmills and solar panels.
No-one has yet actually escaped the doublethink of asking why, when you
*need* to have a reliable set of baseload nuclear capable of running the
entire grid, for when its dark and the wind stops, you need to strap
solar panels and windmills to it, which add precisely nothing of any
value. And add deep instability to it as well

In short what is happening now, is a deep concern at least about
renewable energy. What Exxon new, and Shell and any other competent
energy firm with graduate engineers, is that 'renewable' energy wouldn't
work.
But it was more than their companies existence to say it. Instead we
have gone along with e ArtStudentâ„¢ mediaeval revival of the totally
inappropriate windmills, and polluted half of China building solar
panels that don't work after dark...

We have no feasible large scale energy storage apart from water up a
hill - pumped storage - batteries are completely irrelevant and are not
being used for anything more than ultra short term frequency
stabilisation, because the amounts of energy needed to be stored are
simply enormous.

They are now talking about 'hydrogen' because batteries simply aren't
good enough for electric transport or storing energy
Well, water up a hill is dangerous enough - do the sums. The UK daily
energy feed into its *existing* grid with fossil fuelled cars on the
streets - is about 7 Hiroshima sized bombs worth a *day*.
Imagine the effect of a a cold dark windless *fortnight* worth of stored
energy at that scale going 'bang'?...Chernobyl would be a damp squib by
comparison.

It wont work. But it buys them more time to get out of the whole thing.
Its kicks the green can a little further down the road.

These people who jumped thoughtlessly on a convenient bandwagon without
caring or knowing if it were true or not, are now in danger of
destroying western civilisation by ruining its power supply, because to
them that is preferable to losing their jobs, careers, incomes,
reputations and political influence.

The Soviets had Lysenkoism. Another metaphysical proposition, just like
climate change, that bought into and depended on good Marxist
principles. Anyone who opposed it was de funded, de platformed and sent
to the gulags. Millions died as soviet agriculture failed, based on
false premise about evolution and genetics. The USSR was forced to
import Western grains.

Communism, in a lab coat.

Climate change is junk pseudo science based on modern politically
correct post Marxist 'socialist' 'woke' 'green' convictions about the
world based on ideological simplifications into 'good liberal folks' and
'exploitative capitalists' who destroy the environment and put the world
at risk, and of course they are all white, and male, and strangely feel
no guilt at all about creating a technological society that has, where
its been allowed to, eliminated enormous quantities of disease, poverty,
and starvation. educated its populations to almost complete literacy...

I am a 72-year-old vegetable farmer, and I can tell you that in my
location in Central New York State the average growing season (time from
the last killing frost of the spring to the first one in the fall) has
increased some 2-3 weeks from what it was in the 1970's, and close to a
week since 2000.

I am not alarmed about this, since in my case it's actually been
helpful. I can now reliably grow vegetable crops that I would never have
considered 40 years ago, and it's a big help to my bottom line.

I will not speculate on the cause - that's not my area of expertise. But
the climate IS changing. Only a fool would deny it.

The climate is always changing. Only a fool would claim its just started
happening in the last 50 years...

I grew an Escallonia, back in around 1994. By 2000 I thought global
warming was really here. Then in 2002 the winter killed it.

The 1970s were rather cold as were the early 60s, so much so that
eminent scientists were discussing the probability of the next ice age.
but nothing in the USA compares for heat with the 1930s. And the drought
too.

This is - or was (records are now being altered all the time to fit the
carbon narrative) a matter of record.

This is to be expected since we have spent the last 100 years emerging
from the Little Ice Age. "Climate change" is a force of nature that we
cannott control, any human contribution to it is miniscule. (Not merely
my own opinion but that of many legitimate scientists. This includes Reid
Bryson, the father of modern climate science, referring to the idea of
human-caused global warming as "a bunch of hooey".)

The idea that we are going to control the earth's climate is ludicrous
on its face. It appears to be an expansion of the old Soviet idea that
the State would become so powerful it would control the very weather.
Certainly it is being used by governments to grab more power and wealth.
(Of course following the money and power is the only way to understand
anything in politics.)
