Has to do with the cable modems.

Everything will be working fine, then overnight cable modem
resets.

Everything is still fine, performance good, all works even P2P
stuff, except for Tor.

Tor of any flavor: browser, expert, OmniMix will not work. You
may get a message that your ISP is blocking Tor.

The fix, restart your cable modem.

At least five of us using different cable ISPs in different
states have run into this recently.

Spectrum, Xfinity / Comcast, Suddenlink and Cox. Cable modems
all different.
