Happy Holidays! May your Festivus poles remain ever upright and not
catch fire!

Day #2 of the give-away, and that means two more games to give-away!
There's a certain poetry there, dontcha think? Same 'rules' as last
time apply; the game's on Steam, I've only got the one key per game,
so don't grab it if you're not gonna play it, and pipe up if you Usain
Bolt'd your way to the checkout line. Oh, and the keys are embedded in
the text again, which - while perhaps annoying - should hopefully slow
down the bots and at least ensures everybody has to READ the nonsense
I write rather than skipping down to the freebies. I mean, I put some
time into writing all this garbage (not much, admittedly) so knowing
at least some eyeballs skim across it always makes me happy.

So what's in the goodies bag today?

Well, to start with we have "Carrier Command: Gaea Mission". Every
time I read that title, I am remind of "Hostile Waters: Anteus
Rising", as it should since both games game share a number of
similarities. Both have you command a futuristic carrier, and both mix
strategic elements with first-person shooting. "Hostile Waters" hewed
a bit more closely towards real-time strategy; "Carrier Command", on
the other hand focuses more on the shooty-shoot bits, but in both a
good portion of the game requires you to go hands-on commanding your
deployed units. If this sounds fun then plug 8x8 Cjlmq 3p7ee kj into
Steam. "Carrier" isn't a perfect game; its controls are a bit clunky
and its initial few missions aren't the best, but it isn't a bad game,
its got acceptable visuals and its similarity to "Hostile Waters" was
a welcome bit of nostalgia.

Of course, if that's not to your tastes, why not give "Evoland
Legendary Edition" a try? The key to this game is 77 qyl64 Pzpem 4 aq
if you are interested. This is an old-school RPG, similar in style to
the early "Final Fantasy" games and the like found on the SNES.
Actually, it has multiple visual styles which change as advance
through the different eras of the world and progress through the game,
which is a neat gimmick. The "Legendary Edition" includes both
"Evoland 1" and "Evoland 2". I'm not really a fan of retro-styled
games, and never got into console-RPGs so I can't judge the quality of
this game but if you like the genre or just want a change of pace this
might be an interesting game for you.

And that's all for today. Hope you all (or at least two of you) enjoy
these games. Stay safe, and keep playing!

I took this one. The other one should still be available.

This game is definitely to my tastes. I love RPGs (they are my
favorite genre of games) and I like the visual style of this one. The
only Japanese style RPG I ever played was Final Fantasy VII and I
really liked it. Like, a lot. I played it several times in a row back
in the day.

Thank you Spalls for sharing this one.

I had actually bought Evoland (1) some time ago. It's interesting
for a little bit as the game 'evolves' but I probably only played it
30 minutes to an hour. For for a dollar or two, good thing Spalls
gave it away!

One left, it doesn't sound to my tastes either so passing for
someone who it might be.

There are two games in this one if I read the description correctly
and I really like old school RPGs so I think I will get more then an
hour out of it.

I got this, didn't expect it to still be available!

Looking forward to giving it a go when I can pry my son from the laptop.

Excellent. Our secret "hide the key in the text" encryption seems to
be working. Either that or nobody reads Usenet anymore. But no, it
can't be that; we're all too fascinating. It must be the hiding of the
key.

Enjoy the game!

If only that would work! If we didn't have to share he'd be on it 24/7.
Never seen such grit and determination to play games.

Who could imagine such dedication to the hobby? Next thing you know,
he'll be hanging out in an obsolete internet discussion forum talking
about the damn things. Worse, he might start buying so many games
he'll have to start giving away his duplicates. It's a slippery slope;
best cut him off now. Introduce him to something more healthy, like
smoking, before the hobby consumes him forever.

:-D

My Nintendo Wii Sensor Bar broke a few months ago, was prepared to
replace it when my TV bust. Since not planning to replace TV have been
looking how to play Wii games on laptop. In the mean time kids have
moved to the dark side (PC Gaming). Currently playing TABS (Totally
Accurate Battle Simulator).

Introduce him to RoBlox and start making money off the little
sucker^h^h^h^h^h^h adorable chap! Soon you'll not only be able to get
a new laptop, you'll get a new TV too. If child exploitation is good
enough for corporations, it should be perfectly acceptable to their
parents too! ;-)

What you can make money off Roblox?!?! Well I suppose if you make
wildly successful games or scam people into buying garbage for
crazy amounts. For my kid's it's been flowing in the opposite direction,
They spent their Christmas money from their grandparents on Robux.

Yes seriously how to make money? I could retire early...

Tried getting them interested in ROblox Studio and world building,
didn't last long.

My comment was more a snarky take at RoBloxCorp than real-life advice.
The company preys on the dreams of young people, making them think
that they too can become rockstar game developers. A few do see some
success, but they are rare as unicorns. Meanwhile, RoBlox makes money
hand over fist from the efforts of the rest of them. They're a scummy,
predatory company whose cheerful, candy-coated exterior appeals to
children and parents alike; the former by attracting them with fun
games and impossible dreams, the latter by promising a 'safe
playground' that teaches them a useful skill.

I'd rank the company up there with Facebook for sheer rapaciousness.
If your kids do use RoBlox, I strongly recommend monitoring it
closely, because it is remarkably easy for kids to get roped into
buying cosmetics or hooked into working hours per day creating a 'fun
game' where the only ones who will ever profit from it will be
RoBloxCorp. The platform /can/ be safe and fun, and many kids use it
without harm, but its really easy for kids to trip over that
safety-line if parents are unaware.

Thanks for the heads up, agree with the sentiment. I can see how RBC
(RoBloxCorp) would benefit from free work of those creating content in
RoBloxStudio, for me the pay off would be them learning to code or think
in a programming manner to create something.

It also shows how much work and grind is involved in creating a "game".
Is not as easy as it looks.
