Suddenly, a Word macro that I use frequently has disappeared. Does
anyone know where Word 2007 stores its macros? I have backups for
several weeks, but I do not know which file to retrieve from my backups
to restore the macro.

Not able to check my own computer at the moment, but I recall that
global macros are stored in the default template, NORMAL.DOT in that
version. Macros can also be stored in individual documents.

Make sure that Developer tab is shown on the ribbon. [If not, enable it
in Office Button/Word options/Popular]

If you then click on Developer you can see the Macro menu - for creating
new macros or viewing a list of existing macros.

Macros can be stored in documents or in templates, but you can probably
only see them when Developer mode is enabled.
