It installs ok but it also requires Pulse removal, so what does it mean that "Pipewire supports Pulse" if Pulkse has to be removed?

How do I get the same control w. Pipewire as I do via the *GUI* PAVU control panel? (Leap/TW)

Thanks,

The installation went without errors so I presume as it should

As I understand it PW works with ALSA, so do you use some ALSA control panel to select
speakers/headphones/Line-In/Mic etc?

I find the PAVU control panel irreplaceable now that I'm used to it.

On this machine...

Hi
Hmmm, I thought you were on Tumbleweed, that's a Leap system?

There should be a second Sound Server showing pipewire running.

ps -ef | grep wire

/usr/bin/pipewire
/usr/bin/wireplumber
/usr/bin/pipewire-pulse

Is wireplumber installed?

It should just work with existing tools AFAIK.

Mondays Artix/Plasma, Tuesdays Slackware/xfce, Wednesdays Devuan/xfce, Thursdays Suse
Leap/Plasma, Fridays Suse TW/Plasma, Weekends I mix it up :-)

Doubt it, I only looked at pipewire for the first time the other day

I'll try it again tonight

I booted Leap-15.3 just to see and noted that both pipewire AND pulse were installed but that pipewire-pulse was not, all dependencies satisfied, the PAVU control panel working. This probably came about when I re-installed pulse with Yast and IT required pipewire-pulse to be shed. So now I just installed pipewire-pulse which gave as one option the deinstallation of pulseaudio and SOME other pulse packages. So done, now the PAVU control panel is NOT working (all ghosted). Is ALSA mixer the only control window I can use now?

I looked at wireplumber and IT requires systemd but 3 of my distros don't use systemd. Meanwhile I want to arrive at a similar studio setup on all systems. I will continue to tinker with pipewire without wireplumber on the weekend to see about controls, carla and getting carla into rosegarden as a plugin.
