Hi,

is the package thumb still maintained (latest version from 1997)? Lines
772-773 of thumb.dtx contain old font selection commands
\newcommand{\thumbheaderfont}{\small\sl}
\newcommand{\Overviewtitlefont}{\sf\LARGE}
to switch to sans serif and slanted, respectively. These cause an
incompatibility with newer versions of scrbook.

Well if you care about the package: the dtx on ctan contains an
email and some info about the author. Use the internet to find him
and write him a mail and ask him if it wants to change it. If you
can't contact him you can ask ctan if you can take over the package
and maintain it yourself.

The change is relatively trivial, replace the offending lines with:
\newcommand{\thumbheaderfont}{\small\slshape}
\newcommand{\Overviewtitlefont}{\sffamily\LARGE}
That doesn't mean that I am able to maintain such a package.
