I'm working with someone in a bit of a situation:
- cloned a working w11 HDD to a new SSD
- deleted some partitions (not the C) from the SSD, apparently including
w11 system files / boot partitions
- now he can't boot from the SSD : errors : missing system files
- we installed the originally working HDD, no system files found!

If we could boot from the HDD we could simply do the clone operation
again. No clue why a clone copy hurt the original HDD, if that is what
happened.

At this point we have 3 questions:

Is there a way to repair the HDD so it becomes bootable again?

Is it possible to repair the SSD to it's a working w10 system? The owner
hates w11 and want's to put off the u/g as long as possible? If not...

Is it possible to repair the SSD so it has w11 boot partitions and
system files so it becomes bootable?

I know nothing about w11. Myself I'd like to repair the SSD so it is a
working w10 system for him, if that's possible. But IDK if it's
advisable after a w11 conversion.

It turns out the system offered to repair itself and after running for
about 40 minutes it booted normally. W11 is pretty resilient!

From where I sit W11 is a nightmare.

I'm finding more and more customers have been hoodwinked into "upgrading"
their Windows 10 systems to Windows 11. When I ask why they would do
such a thing I get the deer-in-the-headlights look. So far all are
past the 10-day point of no return. Some say they didn't do anything,
"it just happened". It's disgusting the way Microsoft is aggressively
pushing out this abomination. I'm sure it is not for the benefit of end
users. I'm halfway to just telling people if they've "upgraded" their PCs
to Windows 11 they have to get someone else to work on the stupid things.

With a little due diligence and the help of a couple 3rd party programs,
Windows 11 can be made to work quite well.

Add either 'Startallback', Or 'Start11' and 'WinaeroTtweaker and you can
have Windows 11 in your pocket.

I'll take a look at those, but I am really sick and tired of Microsoft's antics.
There is not a reason in the world at this point in time for anyone with a
functional Windows 10 system to be tricked or force-fed into Windows 11.

That's all well & good if you need a PC with Windows 11 for your personal
use but is detrimental when asked 'How do I', if you are trying to fathom
out someone else's problem from afar.

After a Patch Tuesday update session today, I was faced with an
"Upgrade to Windows 11" full screen dialog at bootup.

The two full-screen dialogs make it easy to select the
wrong thing. Because most users want any startup dialog
slow-me-downs to be gone so they can get on with what
they wanted to really be doing.

The sad part is, it says right in Windows Update in Windows 10,
that the machine in question is not a candidate for W11. That's
because there is no TPM, and the CPU is wrong for it.

And yet the stupid thing still put up that dialog, even
though after hours of grinding, it would still have to
unwind again.

We're all different and don't all have to have the same opinions, but
I'll repeat mine: I disagree with everything you say above. As far as
I'm concerned, Windows 11 is fine. I have no problems with it. I think
it's better than 10, and so do all of the several others I know who
are running it.

>I'm halfway to just telling people if they've "upgraded" their PCs

I hate to be rude, but that says more about your skills and knowledge
of Windows 11, rather than of Windows 11 itself.

My experience, not just with Windows 11, but with all new versions of
Windows (and other software) is that the reason most people who have
problems with it and dislike it is that they don't know enough about
how to use it. There's a learning curve with almost everything new.

Ditto--an excellent recommendation (I use "Start11" and
"WinaeroTweaker"). It's often a mistake to evaluate something based
solely on the way it is out-of-the-box. Most software can be improved
by adding third-party software and by making choices within the
software itself that differ from the defaults; defaults are often poor
choices, in my opinion.

Some people will undoubtedly disagree with me, but I think software
should be evaluated only after configuring it the way *you* like it,
with third-party additions, choices of options, registry edits, etc.
The way Windows 11 is configured out-of-the-box is mostly oriented
toward relative beginners, and a more advanced user almost always
needs to make changes.

I'll add another point: whenever a new version of Windows (and lots of
other pieces of software) comes out, it usually gets lots of
complaints, reports of problems, and negative opinions of it. In my
opinion, that's primarily because it takes a significant amount of
time for most people to learn how to use and to configure it the way
they like it. For many people, it's hard to like something that's new
and different.

One further point: in newsgroup like this and web-based forums, you
see lots of reports of problems, and very few posts praising the
product. That doesn't mean the product is full of problems. It means
that people go to the newsgroups and forums to get help with their
problems. As someone once said, "hang around a transmission shop for a
while and you'll think all cars have transmission problems."

Microsoft seems intent on removing as much end user choice as possible.

I see nothing in Windows 11 that I would call "better". In fact I find
the continued push by Microsoft to turn PCs into terminals on their
network while removing choices and control from end users to be appalling.

> I hate to be rude, but that says more about your skills and knowledge

I have no interest in becoming skilled in Windows 11. (Most of my work
is with non-Microsoft systems. Windows is a sideline for me.) I find the
bulk of the changes to be senseless and of no value.

I'm already compiling a list of things I'm simply not willing to work
on when it comes to Windows 11. The newest line item is I will not
assist people who mistakenly "upgrade" their Windows 10 systems due to
Microsoft's trickery and run into problems. Let them call Microsoft Support.

The western corporate/business worid uses?

I doubt a business entity would rely solely on Android. And few seem
to favour Linux.

Yes.

I don't think they can be blamed - since they hate the whole concept of
