I am still struggling with the windows Connect function.

It is not the TV as has been suggested, as under certain circumstance I
can get the computer to connect for a few minutes. ie after I undated
to the new McAfee interface.

I am thinking now the Connect Function may be being blocked by McAfee.
To allow a connection in McAfee, I need to know the name of the
applications that performs the Connect Function or the name of the port.

Does any one know what application handles the Connect Function, or the
port used?

I have no problem connecting to the local area network and the internet.
Also I can do computer to computer connections through the local area
network. So there is some other port or application that needs to be
allowed in McAfee.

Hi Knuttle,
Remove the McAfee and see if it works again. McAfee
is not the sharpest tack in the box
Then install ESET Internet Security. It has a firewall "learning mode"
that will create the firewall rule
for you. Ping me if you can't figure it out.

McAfee don't seem to make this easy.

https://www.technipages.com/allow-program-access-through-mcafee-personal-firewall

The Connect App is a UWP (Universal Windows Program), and only
seems to be trigger-able if you have an intact Miracast capability
(needs a Wifi in the device). I can't test that because I don't
have a Wifi.

Apparently you can make one PC a source, a second PC a sink, and
run the screen over to it. But a review claimed it wasn't that
stable. If I had two Wifi cards, I could use such a capability, to
test without a TV set.

But as for locating this "Connect UWP", I've been unable to guess
at what spiffy-name the thing might have. On older OSes, there was
a Wireless Zero Networking stack, intended to make Wifi work without
a proprietary driver installed. But by this point in time, the spiffy-name
for this function (what it's called internally) could be just
about anything. And if the interface is grayed-out in my Windows 10
setups, there's not much I can do to un-gray them. Mother knows best.

"You can find this by trying to connect to it with the firewall enabled,
and checking the

FirewallEventMonitor.txt

file, it shows up as a blocked connection with the

WUDFHost.exe

application. Next you need to go into advanced settings for
your firewall and manually mark this ip address as trustworthy."

That process is:

Windows User-mode Driver Framework Host Process

which is not likely to be the App doing the interface part of this.

But all that matters, is how McAfee is taking a dislike to it,
and you marking it as OK.

| I know this doesn't answer your question, but just in case
it's useful: I have a Win7 computer I use to stream to a
TV and a Raspberry Pi hooked to a second TV. Both are
using HDMI cables. The TV is set up as a second monitor.
Of course, it does need to be probably less than 12' away.
But in the case of an RPi, the cost is about $100 and the
computer is the size of a deck of cards. You can also
download your video to it via USB.

Thanks for the information.
The connect function is a nice function. You make one PC the source, and
connect the screen of the PC to an another device, TV in my case.
When you want to show a document, picture, or spreadsheet to a group of
people, it is nice to click Connect and show what you do and see on your
PC screen.
