Just updated to version 113.0.1 and now my tabs are over the address
bar and not below it as I desire/like it to be.

Does anyone have a Chrome file fix for this? Any assistance is greatly
appreciated.

Thanks

I successfully used the .css fix that was posted by Big Al in
alt.comp.software.firefox a few days ago. There isn't much traffic there
so you should be able to find it, but holler if you can't.

Firefox is starting to fall apart.

Since v111, the native toolip (i.e. not HTML based "tooltip") such as the
one for bookmarks' URL, sometimes got cropped by a HTML element. e.g. when
showing tooltip of a bookmark on the bookmarkbar where it'll fully or
partially placed on the HTML viewing area. It also flickers.

This problem does not occur in v105.

In v113, another problem occur, which on some sites, the window for the
fullscreen mode is no longer in a zoomed state where borders exist. Both the
system and Firefox fighting each other to draw that area. The system is
trying to draw the borders, and Firefox is trying to draw the HTML content
fullscreen. The result is a flicker between HTML content and borders.

One example of that borders on fullscreen mode problem is on R2Games.com
HTML based games, when it's viewed fullscreen. YouTube does not have this
problem. It's an ugly problem. The only way to work around it is to use
AutoHotkey to maximize the window after the web browser goes fullscreen.

I've switched back to v105.

Why don't you either turn off the updates

make a new directory under the firefox directory in programs

in that directory ,make a text file
called policies.json

in that file put

{

"policies": {
"DisableAppUpdate": true
}

}

or

you could of course back up the mozilla/firefox directory in
%appdata% before updating.

I always manually update so I'll use your other recommendation and
backup before updating. Thank you.

I tried this, but still get the new update message when I start firefox.
Is that an indication the fix is not working?

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Mozilla\updates <=== updates staged here

updates\308046B0AF4A39CB\updates\0\update.status saying: pending

A manifest constant, seems to be "308046B0AF4A39CB" as the browser agent number
(for the latest update check), and the latest scan for updates may be registered against that.

Perhaps if you clean out that folder, then the policies.json
will be applied ?

I've always had trouble, "once Firefox has the bit in its teeth".

If an update is considered "in-progress", that update will
try to complete, before any of your other policy attempts work.

This is why, to really prevent updates, you

1) Unplug network cable
2) Fresh install Firefox
3) Create c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Distribution and your policies.json
4) Plug network cable back in, try Firefox, check that
"updates are controlled by your organization"

The network cable thing, is so the updater service in services.msc cannot
get even a sniff of an update, before the policy fence is in place.

At this point in time, you need a "what is a sufficient cleanup procedure
for AppData\Local\Mozilla\updates?" . I don't know if the service running
in services.msc keeps registry entries or not. Or whether it is happy
with the folder structure as evidence of updates.

That folder is empty. so what you say below is likely.
