Could you share those two lines, please? I'm curious.

I don't think I have that recorded anywhere.
The script might well have got tossed.

A breadcrumb would be along these lines, but a few
more googles regarding issues with this may be required.

BEGIN {
RS='\r\n' # or alternately '\r?\n' for \n or \r\n , which may or may
# not be a good idea
ORS ='\r\n' # some encoded value for CRLF so the output would be Windows.
# Instead of what Linux coughs up with default /n usage.
# Maybe this would make a Linux Gawk, put Windows line endings.
}

If you download the Firefox source tarball, the Linux "file" command
finds one hundred variants of text files within the hundreds of
thousands of source files (at the time I did this scan, I was
shocked at what I'd discovered). Obviously, you would not be attempting
to add order to that madness with a Gawk script. Maybe "sed"
would be required, for really really bad files.

It's so bad in fact, I found a file, that if I changed the
line endings, the compiler would throw a nonsensical error
and no amount of work on my part could fix it. I had to
restore the original file and stop modifying it :-) Wheee!
I think I might even have resorted to HxD and a hunt for
invisible characters.

So when I say two lines, the two lines were lines that
solved *my* immediate problem. I was not curing cancer
at the time. I just wanted the damn script to finish
what I was doing. I was running a large text file
through GNUWin32 Gawk 3, which crashed (my first Gawk
crash), and to get my text through Gawk 4 on WSL, I
needed to add a clause similar to the above.

The above then, is to give you something to use in a
search in the Gawk PDF manual. Or on Stackexchange.
The machine I'm on right now, doesn't have all this
stuff sitting on it, so I can't do any quick
comparisons.

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. Now that I see it, I can
understand the need to set the output separator for Windows format
when running in Linux but producing files to be used in Windows; but
it seems strange that any current tool would not be prepared to
handle inputs in any end-of-line format.

How do you add it to Notepad++?

You don't. Use Sublime Text instead.
