That's too bad, you would think there is some starving artist who would
like to get a start in a new software company. I suspect that in the
future when some of the m$ coders/programmers see what they have wrought
they will try to atone. Then there is that new ai chat program if placed
in the race to produce working Linux software, who can say.

I have never had a problem with USB ports or USB sticks. It must not
be much of a problem.

AI although Off Topic is extremely interesting and equally scary.
As we speak it is mainly used to manipulate the population and it is learning to lie.
The moment it learns to code and make its own hardware we are doomed, it probably turns against the people who learned it to lie too. I wouldn’t hold my breath for
it to fix linux :-)

The moment any organization established from pure noble intentions get some influence, it will be corrupted from both inside and outside.
Then we have organizations established from pure evil.

To be fair, how often have you used usb? Have you tried to transfer 60
GB of data to a usb drive?

There is nothing to fear over chat bots solving Linux usb problems. When
the chat bot wars begin it will be you and I who must preside in the
tribunals to judge the results of the chat bots.

Here's what I did:

- dl/ed the latest KDE Neon, checked hash, authenticated
- copied it to a Ventoy stick
- booted it live on a laptop which has a lot of trouble w/ linux wifi,
only MX Linux and a couple of others are able to solve the wl driver for
the Broadcom on live boot
- solved the wl driver problem (via ethernet connxn), connected to my
LAN wifi
- KDE Neon has KDE connect installed by default
- used my android phone, went to Play Store, installed KDE connect
- started connect on both devices, they saw each other and I clicked
pair and they paired

I realize that isn't the same as connecting by USB which is the way I've
connected my phone to my desktop in the past, but it is better than not
connecting or having to use Windows for the job

I might add; that android smart phone doesn't have a plan; it does what
it does by wifi google voice -- my ancient phone w/ a plan isn't smart
or touch or even android (some ancient linux).

The android smart accessed the Play Store via wifi; but it isn't enough
for it to have wifi to do KDE Connect; it also has to have the android
KDE Connect app.

Well good for you but I have wasted far too much time on this, lets not forget explaining it here over and over again and again....
So I'm done with this shit and I do have a workaround which I am not going to explain because that will undaubtedly trigger
the same remarks which I have been through 20 or so times.

Chat Bots is not AI, it is pretty much the opposite.
AI imo is per definition dangerous but as long as it only can "talk" it only can mislead an manipulate you.

Since I am not very knowledgeable about the ot of ai or chat bot, and since you sound like you know what you are saying, I elect you to open the ot of ai.
My first question is: what is the basis of your fear of ai? What is the difference between chat bots and ai? Do people make mistakes? Do people write the code that allows the computing process to evaluate the most appropriate answer? Can you visualize chat bot wars, where endless jouls of computing power are supporting a group of computers arguing some esoteric point, much like the blockchain for tracking money.

On USENET, certain hierarchies are called the Big-8.
Big-8 groups have "official handling methods".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_8_%28Usenet%29

The Big-8 groups, the newgroup message passed from
Control, is normally always honored. So if the RFC
(Request For Comments) process and election process
are followed, and the election passes, the group
should be created on all servers at the same time.

It is things like alt.* or mozilla.* (private hierarchy)
that are handled by other means. Newgroups are disabled
on alt.* to prevent abuse. At one time, individual users
used to create alt groups, and call one another names
by doing that. Those groups later, had to be removed
in a giant cleanout operation.

Refreshing your newsgroup list, should make the comp.* group available.
It's probably already in your file.

On Thunderbird, I should be able to open "hostinfo.dat"
and see if the group is there. Each server folder has
a hostinfo.dat file

comp.ai.shells,,1,0,0

and I can check my "news.eternal-september.org.rc" to
see what groups I am subscribed to.

To see the low water and high water mark coming from
a server, you use Wireshark and Port 119 (default, plaintext).
Mixmin does not support Port 119 (so cannot be used
for this sort of testing), but a read-only server
such as netfront.net (news.netfront.net?) might work
on Port 119.
