If I didn't play games at all, I would feel comfortable buying an Apple
laptop. Their warranty is magnificent and anyone requiring a repair is
generally well treated and receives a repair in a respectable amount of
time. With this laptop, if ever I require a repair, I know that I am
likely to be without a machine for weeks at a time so I can only hope
that it doesn't break prematurely.

I have a large collection of pirated music, but I stopped adding to it
after the first time I did so since the Win11 upgrade, when it did
something to let me know it saw what I had done. I don't use offshore
streaming sites for movies/TV, I rent stuff from Amazon Prime Video if
I want. I'm willing to pay for the content I want, going forward.

The "barebones" system I ordered let you pick the case and several
components out, by brand and model, like you were ordering from a menu.
But as I described, they "mucked" it.

I've built dozens and dozens of systems and I'd place "R&R PSU" on the
easy end of the scale. To me, replacing a motherboard is much more
annoying.

Well, yes, the motherboard installation is annoying too. I don't
dispute that. I mean, I hate the chore of the assembly, but I like
the result, so it's worth it in the end.

You don't need to learn stealing is wrong. I don't care if I steal. A lot of people say it's wrong. But you don't make any sense. You once did it and now you don't. Are you a bad guy or not? And don't give me the I saw god and changed my ways bullshit.

In MS's case perhaps, as their theory is to get people using pirated Windows at home and like it, then want to use it at work where they do enforce licensing.... But game and film manufacturers do not tolerate piracy in any way whatsoever. But they can't stop it.

At the time I attempted to do this, I didn't think of it as stealing
or piracy - I was wrong. I admitted that multiple times. I don't
know why you aren't hearing that.

No, I simply didn't do it *at all*. Downloading software in that
manner is *unsafe*. You have no idea what could be embedded in it.

That's an entirely different issue, though - media piracy doesn't have
*control of your computer*. Software, *especially* an operating
system, does.

Of course they do. They know it goes on and there's not a lot they can do
about it.

> But they can't stop it.

They can make getting their content easier than the pirated version. Which
is what they didn't understand in the early days of napster. It wasn't just
that it was free that people liked, it was the convenience factor which was
huge.

Spotify, Netflix, etc are so convenient and not that expensive so people on
the whole can't be bothered to pirate.

Of course it's victimless. Re-read what I wrote and use a calculator if necessary. "If I changed to Linux, they'd still get no money form me."

Because very few people are as stupid as you.

Apparently that's a bit naughty - the place I bought 100 of those from (for building machines for others) was told by Microsoft to "please stop doing that".

Yes, because Microsoft is a poor company about to go under and they really need your money.

You really are a moron, dude. When warezers sink to the point of
insulting people who pay for software, it shows their true colors.
You're just not a very nice person, so you say fuck you to software
makers, and those who support them. You're an asshole.

No one is saying that. But they are a business, and they need revenue
from their products. I don't have an issue paying my fair share.

Like MS needs your money urgently.

If a builder makes a house, he gets paid for it, once. Not every time someone else uses the house. Programmers and musicians want paid over and over for the same thing, without doing any more work. And programmers are worse, because their product is full of bugs. Maybe they should learn to write things that don't go wrong, then they'd earn some respect.

I give enough to the church to represent the value of the services I
use, which I've estimated as having a retail value of $13 a month (use
of their bathroom, coffee, and the communion). I don't give more,
because I can't entirely agree with them on LGBT and gender equality
issues (although they are as progressive as that type of church gets).
But certainly, I don't feel entitled to go there every week, using
those services, without chipping in.

That's an interesting perspective on "their services".
$13/4 ~~ $3.25/wk. That would estimate your income around $32.50/wk.
Are you the pastor?

I didn't say I was giving them 10% of my income. I couldn't afford to
do that. But I give what I feel is deserved.

Any "church" which does more than tolerate LGBT or their values is going
against the word of God and the Holy Bible and does no better than the
Church of Satan would.

If you feel that you are cleansing your soul by going to such fraudulent
places which ignore the word of God in a vain effort to be "inclusive"
then you are sorely mistaken. Self-mutilation as what the transsexuals
advocate and sodomy are not endorsed by God.

Cite where God or Jesus said anything against LGBT people.

This church *doesn't* endorse LGBT. It has begun to let cisgender
women participate in the service, reading scriptures and praying. I'm
content with that - progress, however slight, is good.

Since the Holy Bible in its entirety is considered to be the word of God:

Leviticus 18:22
"Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a
woman. It is a detestable sin."

Leviticus 20:13
"If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a
woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put
to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense."

This is where you say "but that's not Jesus!" so:

<https://www.blueletterbible.org/Comm/stewart_don/faq/bible-authoritative-word/question17-jesus-view-of-the-old-testament.cfm>

"Jesus and the Old Testament
In examining the four gospels, we have a great amount of information to
work with concerning Jesus’ view of the Old Testament. His view can be
simply stated in two words: total trust. Jesus accepted the Old
Testament Scriptures as being divinely authoritative; He never cast
doubt on any of the accounts recorded in it. Jesus assumed the people
were actual people and that the events literally occurred. We never find
Him giving the slightest hint of anything but the complete acceptance of
the Old Testament as the Word of God. This can be seen as follows:"

It's not progress to allow Satan to have authority in God's church.
You've made your choice, you believe in "do what thou wilst." Stop
making a mockery of my religion and yourself in your pursuit of the Devil.

What the hell are you talking about? Many Christian churches have
female ministers/pastors, now. This church has merely allowed women
to read scriptures and pray. How is that related to any of your
nonsense about "Satan"?

It is isn't. It's a medieval document written by monks which has little
relevance today. Especially the old testament where rape and murder are
considered acceptable.

Thankfully we are better than that these days.
