Tutorial: How to install Epic Privacy Browser where YOU want it installed
(As always, please feel free to use, archive for the future or improve it.)

I put my browsers where they belong, where you & I define where that is.
For me, it's c:\app\browser\{aloha,brave,chrome,dragon,epic,firefox,etc.}

By default, Epic Privacy Browser (aka epic) installs where it wants to go.
Below is a tutorial to install epic where you want it to go.

First, you have to _find_ the "correct" installer, and not the web stub.
https://www.epicbrowser.com/ [Download Epic Now]
These are, AFAIK, the current installers at the canonical epic web site.
https://epicbrowser.com/thank_you.php

a. Web stub installer at https://www.epicbrowser.com/
https://cdn.epicbrowser.com/epicsetup.exe
Name: epicsetup.exe
Size: 1832768 bytes (1789 KiB)
SHA256: E46853CAAF6ADF679F3BDB116761AA7EF199F148641CFF7EC9D76FD67EF5305F
b. Windows Installer (exe)
https://cdn.epicbrowser.com/winsetup/EpicSetup.exe
Name: EpicSetup.exe
Size: 1831744 bytes (1788 KiB)
SHA256: 78B6A0F85F50DA832C2553284C56C83BD847832D328A311477EBF950596A2431
c. Windows Installer (zip)
https://cdn.epicbrowser.com/winsetup/EpicSetup.zip
Name: EpicSetup.zip
Size: 1557722 bytes (1521 KiB)
SHA256: A4DC2B7190A85FAD9DC5E9CB3A9103E8C2258EAE531BA16034FF488483079868
Name: EpicSetup.exe
Size: 1831744 bytes (1788 KiB)
SHA256: 78B6A0F85F50DA832C2553284C56C83BD847832D328A311477EBF950596A2431
d. Windows Direct (offline, won't update)
https://cdn.epicbrowser.com/v91/win/mini_installer.exe
Name: mini_installer.exe
Size: 61067392 bytes (58 MiB)
SHA256: A3D0B409143F0BBD0E56CA2046BF6999B41E1DA9FB2881E2F31824557F648C92

After trial and error, I have found that last item to be the one to use.

Note: If you're migrating from an old epic to a new epic, archive
the directory that you'll be overwriting below such as your
profile directory which was named when you first started epic.
%localappdata%\Epic Privacy Browser\User Data\Profile name\
For example, the bookmarks xml file is in your profile directory
%localappdata%\Epic Privacy Browser\User Data\Profile 1\Bookmarks

With that we can start the tutorial.
1. Start at the epic "thank you" web page to obtain the full installer.
https://epicbrowser.com/thank_you.php
2. Download the full 58MiB offline installer which is listed as:
"Windows Direct (offline, won't update)"
https://cdn.epicbrowser.com/v91/win/mini_installer.exe
Name: mini_installer.exe
Size: 61067392 bytes (58 MiB)
SHA256: A3D0B409143F0BBD0E56CA2046BF6999B41E1DA9FB2881E2F31824557F648C92
3. When that's done, immediately hit your software killswitch
4. Bring up the task manager & then the "find" command inside it
Find "epic" shouldn't find anything related to the epic browser yet
5. Doubleclick the "mini_installer.exe"
6. Find "epic" in the task manager will tell you where Epic went.
%localappdata%\AppData\Local\Epic Privacy Browser\Temp\source8892_593397052\chrome.7z

Optionally back up that (now huge) directory before you mess with it.
Name: Epic Privacy Browser.7z
Size: 237814894 bytes (226 MiB)
SHA256: F818C77B10EEC5039FC8A5D6AC33E09725BFADE1DE4CAF7FD2EBC5DC74D93529

Note the directory consists of the following (most of which isn't needed).
C:\app\browser\Epic Privacy Browser\CrashReports\
C:\app\browser\Epic Privacy Browser\Installer\
C:\app\browser\Epic Privacy Browser\User Data\
C:\app\browser\Epic Privacy Browser\Application\
7. Move only one directory & two executables to your installation hierarchy.
mkdir c:\app\browser\epic (use whatever hierarchy you feel is logical)
cd %localappdata%\Epic Privacy Browser\Application\
move .\91.0.4472.124 c:\app\browser\epic\91.0.4472.124
move .\epic.exe c:\app\browser\epic\epic.exe
move .\chrome_proxy.exe c:\app\browser\epic\chrome_proxy.exe

Note the rest isn't apparently necessary (at least not in my tests).
You only need three items below "Application" in your installation folder.
.\91.0.4472.124\ <== this is the latest epic version folder
.\epic.exe <== this is what you make a shortcut to
.\chrome_proxy.exe <== I think this is run only the 1st time???
Note the current file sizes and hashes as of today.
Name: epic.exe
Size: 1793536 bytes (1751 KiB)
SHA256: FC675A25D49300E16764D30CDB1E17288DAC5BF9993D5FB9AAC92D7C5C3404C8
Name: chrome_proxy.exe
Size: 569856 bytes (556 KiB)
SHA256: E8B4DEED7BDDB390CF36AD4B96D2A767F302DE275799655A26E334896CF16EF2

Rest assured the %localappdata%\Epic Privacy Browser\ will get recreated
the first time you run epic but if you already have a profile, then
you'll want to be aware that the "User Data" contains that profile.
%localappdata%\Epic Privacy Browser\User Data

Also note Epic will ask to create a desktop shortcut when you first
create a profile, which will have the target of that profile so
there's no reason to create the shortcut on your own at this point.
8. With the network still off, doubleclick on the epic.exe now.
The Epic browser will open up to four (tracking?) tabs.
1. https://epicbrowser.com/spread_epic/
2. https://epicbrowser.com/encrypted_proxy/
3. https://www.epicbrowser.com/privacy/intro.html
4. A built-in explanation tab talking about search privacy.
When Epic asks to create a profile, give it a name, e.g., "a" which
will create a desktop shortcut with a target pointing to that profile.

If you named the profile "a", this step will have created a directory in:
%localappdata%\Epic Privacy Browser\User Data\Profile a\

9. Now it's time to move the desktop shortcut into your menu folder.
move "%HOMEPATH%\Desktop\Epic Privacy Browser.lnk" c:\menu\app\browser\epic.lnk
Target = C:\app\browser\epic\epic.exe --profile-directory="Profile a"
Startin = C:\app\browser\epic\

10. Now you can set your start pages in Epic, which I set Chrome's to:
TAB1: chrome://settings/siteData
TAB2: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
11. At this point you can click your killswitch toggle back on.
12. Start Epic and get the two critical extensions that make it what it is.
Settings > More tools > extensions > (need to be online to do this)

In summary, this is how I just installed the latest Epic Privacy Browser
into a folder where I wanted it to go, using the full network installer,
(after searching the net for how to do this & not finding any current tutorials).

Please (a) test & report back results, or (b) save, or (c) improve the process!
