2016 Ford Escape.

The Valiant worked just fine until the nincompoop lady who decided she
was going to make a left hand turn NO MATTER WHAT which in this case
was right into me. Since the Valiant was rather more than 10 years old
at the time the insurance company wrote it off without batting an eye.

(The collision had pushed the right fender against the passenger door
making that door unopenable - but it otherwise drove just fine. The
insurance companies were on strike at the time so they didn't write it
off till after their strike was over so I got another 7 weeks worth of
it.....)

Until then

Where do you find this utter bullshit? A computer does not necessarily have an internet connection, especially before you've even set the thing up!!! You might need to do all sorts of things WITHIN THE OS to connect to the internet, it's not "just there". Beyond sensible even for MS. There will be a way round it, just like I just installed it on 6 PCs without TPM.

Currently the way around it is to connect to the internet when prompted
then immediately disconnect as it goes to the next step. Setup will attempt
to download updates which it will not be able to do, then will prompt
you for a local account name. I've done this on several Win11 Home setups.
This is most easily done with a wired connection of course. (For wireless
you'd need to shut off the wifi router or access point.) Of course MS may
close this loophole at any time.

+1

I did the same when installing Windows 11 on an ancient laptop & also on a
separate HDD on my desktop which doesn't meet the minimum requirements.

Uh what? I just said I don't want a MS account. It's an option on running the setup.
