You go to church, so you're a religious moron. Only time I entered a church was when I was 10. We stole all the lightbulbs and candles for a laugh.

So you're even more twisted than I thought. I'll stick to reality. Spirituality is mumbo jumbo.

There are far more productive and fun ways to enjoy the company of others.

All I see is the scroll bar initially estimates how large it should be incorrectly, then corrects this when you move it. No big deal.

A quick way to make a text file sample:

https://iweb.dl.sourceforge.net/project/base64/b64.exe # A base64 encoder that actually works (unlike certutil)

cd Downloads

fsutil file createNew original.bin 480000000

b64 -e original.bin original.txt

notepad original.txt

Blinkin, flashin, misbehavin
Who needs bugs really ?

There's lots of things you can't do at the end
of the file. The mouse is only part of it. You can't
use the cursor keys down there successfully.

And if you're careful while testing, you can even
overwhelm DWM and suddenly the mouse cannot go down
to the Task Bar. Wheee!

*******

Try the same thing on Win10 (19044.1645) and the file
loads in Notepad in 5-7 seconds or so. You can move the
scroll bar freely, without choking and wheezing. You can position
the cursor anywhere on the last few lines, using mouse
or cursor keys. In other words, it actually works.

Paul

Yes. But EditPad Lite makes a good replacement.

OK, I'll take your word for it. I have no chat logs, so I know nothing
about them, not even how big they usually are. I have no interest in
using Notepad for large text files. If I want to edit a large text
file (which I seldom do) I use Wordpad.

Thinking abut this some more, how big is what you call a "large text
file"? Can you put a number on it, even if approximate? I use Notepad
to edit my autohotkey file, which is 151KB. It works without a
problem.

As far as I'm concerned, that's an overstatement. It may not be great,
but it's adequate for my uses.

Just find an article on DLL policies, to get some idea where the loader looks.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that his kind makes its way here as it
did in comp.os.linux.advocacy and other groups which were, at one time,
fairly decent to read.

Well there's a monumental fuckup right there: "If a DLL with the same module name is already loaded in memory, the system uses the loaded DLL, no matter which directory it is in. The system does not search for the DLL."

So we both write a program requiring widget.dll. But yours is designed for version 7 and mine version 6. If your program is opened first, mine will use the v7 instead of the v6 it normally does. So now we have an intermittent crash of my program depending if your program was opened first, even though it's not actually your program making mine crash.

It's never been designed for that. But how hard would it be for it to just say "no, too big", instead of trying and hanging?
