For the most part, the 85xx series use a 8042AH KBC [8742AH similar].

The 8525 and 8530 use industry standard chipsets. The 8530-286 used a
8042AH.

The 8535/8540 used a 8042AH. The shift from the industry standard
chipsets to the 8042AH was a problem, as software sordid expected a more
main-stream flavor, and IBM had to do something with scan codes or
translation or shaking rubber chickens. IIRC, 8042AH was taken to equate
to the MCA bus, so an 8042AH on ISA made some software break.

Note the P75 was the first common MCA system to use an ASIC. The P70/P75
development seems to be contemporary to the T0 development. The 90 and
95 have always used an ASIC.

I just don't have a clear enough scan of the 8556 / 57 system board to
identify the KBC.

The 8042 is mask ROM - so you can't change the firmware. The 8742 was
the EPROM version.

Feature Byte 2, Bit 2: http://ibmmuseum.com/Interrupts/INT15h/INT15hC0.html

The 8556/8557 have a "non-8042 Keyboard Controller": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEHZFHFheR8&t=874s

The push around this time by IBM was to have models able to use the 122-key "Host Connect" keyboard for terminal emulation...

9553, 9556/57, Bermuda, Lacuna, 85 "X", 85 "N", 9595A (2S2P), 5550-486 -
10G4672 (ASIC/GA)

The ASIC integrates a bunch of stuff:
-keyboard & mouse controller
-2x UART
-1x parallel
-interrupt controller
-it also probably drives the planar I/O bus
