Hello forum !

The \index command is defined by LaTeX with :

\def\index{\@bsphack\begingroup
\@sanitize
\@wrindex}

\@sanitize turns the space character into category 12,
so that :

\index{something} works fine
while: \index {something} tries to index the space before {

Why not define \index like this :
\def\index#{\@bsphack\begingroup
\@sanitize
\@wrindex}

so that the space is removed before '{' and thus before \@sanitize ?

Regards.
