I just saw this. Not recommended yet but maybe Windows 11 can be
installed on it. Other neat features too:

Yes but the experience is not that good... worse power management, no
ctrl-alt-delete shortcut key which is vital, sound drivers still in the
works.
Basically everything which applies to Windows 10 does also for 11, it is
a subpar experience compared to the default Linux Steamos install.

I sure will try windows on that thing, but given that I do not play
multiplayer games, I my pressure to do it to bypass some anti cheat
system is basically zero.

The only incentive I would have is to get RDR 2 running (which I
stupidtly bought over rockstar not steam) and prime gaming, where the
launcher refuses a linux install.

RDR2 can be rebought or I simply will wait and prime gaming, i never
really played one of those free games, it is just a nice to have
fallback option, just as Epic is, where I collect the games and never
touch them.

Unless they've made some major changes I'm not aware of, the Rockstar
launcher is required for RDR2 regardless of where you buy it.

One reason I bought direct from Rockstar (despite there being no way
to avoid the launcher anyway) was that at the time there were bonuses,
and one of those (a particularly fast horse) ended up being hugely
valuable toward my overall enjoyment of the game. I knew from having
played the PS4 version (which I didn't like due to video performance
and control) that online horse racing was going to be an important
income generator early on...money isn't easy to come by in the game
and it is required to do many things, so it turned out to be a
decision I never regretted.

I have to dig deeper, I have yet to be able to start the game on
Linux... the launcher launches it but thent it fails. The Steam version
does not have this issue.

That was also the reason I bought it there, there was a huge discount a
few weeks after the games release but only on their own store/launcher.
Sort of like what ubisoft does on uplay with their points.

I liked RDR2, being a big western movie and tv show nut. But I quit
playing it because it kept draggon on in the cold and snow.

the console is very solid and portable and has a good form factor for my

That battery life does sound a bit on the low side but I suppose
fortunately when you're out and about there are quite a few places where
you can use a USB charger* and failing that just bring your own battery
with your.

*Interestingly enough when they started rolling out new buses in our
area they did add USB points to all seats but for the trains, nope they
older ones used to have plug sockets but the new ones have removed them
all. They also removed the armrests and the seats are less than
comfortable. That's fine though as you now have a nice big colour
display showing where the toilets are and also the rough occupancy of
each carriage!

It sounds actually worse than it really is, on travels you simply add a
powerbank to the things you carry with you and at home you basically can
connect anyway.
The thing is not for your pockets anyway, so adding a powerbank for
longer travels is a no brainer.

Here we have 220V plugs with every seat on the train (but often not
enough), I basically when I was travelling a lot in trains businesswise
before covid hit always had
a power distributor with me, to be able to plug all my devices in.

Either way, yes the battery is really on the low side and definitely the
area which needs most improvement for V2 of the device, but the problem
is less problematic than in the past.

I tend to agree, and personally I just factor in the cost of a suitable
battery (if you don't already have one) into the overall price. It feels
like the sound of what that battery life means are different from the
actual implications.

Unfortunately since the nationalisation of the UK railways the whole
network is seen not as a service that's part of the economic
infrastructure but instead a business in its own right and that means
that for the companies that run them everything is about profit. The
ironic thing is that to be able to generate a profit the government has
to the subsidise the different companies that run the franchises. It
also doesn't help that there is almost zero effective competition.

One of the really 'amusing' parts was several years ago after one of our
big franchises collapsed the only way the government could get a company
to run it was by employing them as a management team. A few years later
when the train staff went of strike it emerged that as part of that
contract the government were compensating (money) the management team
because of the disruptions the strike was causing.

Ok small verdict after 9-10 days of usage I really love this device.

Sure I knew I was getting into, but once you are out of the testing
period which lets you discover smaller glitches which I knew anyway and
actually do what
this device was made for, aka gamning, all those "go away" mentally and
you will really start to enjoy the device.
Man I really love to play all those PC games in bed, this is awesome.
Battery life is way less of an issue than people make out of it, given
it is not a pocketable device anyway, you either have a wallplug nearby
anyway or you simply connect it to a power bank.

Currently playing ff-x and having spent 10 hours into the game it runs
perfectly.
Elden Ring will be tackled once it is discounted I still do not want to
start such a big game again despite finally being able to play again
longer periods of time.

Ah yes and I finally bought myself some cheap reading glasses, age shows
with 52...

Glad you're enjoying even though it's really not my thing. I couldn't

The controller is a little bit different, it does not force you to use
the trackpads, they are mostly optional, given you have 2 analog sticks now.

The also are a tad smaller which is sort of a hit and miss thing, I
liked the size of the SC controller ones, but I can see why they had to
make them smaller.

I don't think the problem is really the controller* but instead that for
me the sofa and gaming just don't mix. Possibly it's just I've always
associated gaming with something you do in the bedroom although that now
means one of our spare bedrooms that is the computer room.

*Although that didn't help as I so used to KB + mouse.

Ah, Larry Laffer, ensuring PC gamers would always have as something as
crass and embarrassing on their platform as "Custer's Revenge" was on
the Atari 2600. Even in my younger days, I found the humor
sophomoric... but funny nonetheless. The early games were solid
adventures with (mild) venality wrapped around them, which sadly
degenerated to more focus on coarse jokes pushing lackluster gameplay
with later titles.

In particular I always enjoyed the "prove your age" checks at the
start of the game, when it asked you things supposedly only an adult
would know ("Your abdomen is located... a) inside a bank, b) inside
your Audi, c) inside your torso, d) best after dark"). These days,
many of the references are so dated ("In 1979, the Vice-President of
the U.S. was nicknamed a) Poppy, b) Fritz c) Hans, d) Dutch") that
re-releases have to give-away a hint-sheet to bypass it.

The meta-joke of the series jumping from "Leisure Suit Larry 3"
directly to "Leisure Suit Larry 5" was also quite clever, I thought.
And some of the feelies - one of the games had a scratch-n-sniff pad -
were great.

The games themselves haven't aged well, and (IMHO) weren't all that
great to begin with, but they certainly were memorable and were a
unique take on the genre. Lowbrow and middling as the gameplay might
have been, that alone made them worth playing at the time.

To be honest I've never played it as by the time I'd heard about it my
gaming tastes had already moved on.

Hehe I am doing now finally gaming in the bedroom, I am just lying in
