This newsgroup covers openSUSE rather than the Enterprise version,
hardly anyone on this group will be in your situation. My guess is that
your first plan of attack should be to moan at SUSE about this, firstly
so that they know there is a problem and secondly so they fix it.

libopenssl is a key library and I can't imagine this going unnoticed for
long.

Now to the solutions listed:
1 - no way.
2 - this looks like a backward step.
3 - If you have tp make a selection, this is the least worst.
4 - no way.

When I have a situation like this I delay applying the patch causing the
problem, there was something similar with Leap 15.4 around 6 weeks ago
and it took them a few days to fix it (thread "Leap 15.4 - qtk3-branding
update" here).
I don't know how updates are applied on your system. If you are
provided with a list with all in that list selected, unselect that one
and apply the rest. Using YaST Software Update allows you a lot of
control but all you really want here is not to apply that one fix for now.

True, but... why is that?

There is an alt.os.linux.opensuse group, apparently not used.

I concur.

I concur.

My guess is that SLES 12 is way too old, any update will be very delicate.

Hi
I suspect you have some active/enabled openSUSE repositories on the
system and associated packages....

I see;
Solution 2: install libopenssl1_1-1.1.1d-2.69.1.x86_64 from vendor SUSE
LLC <https://www.suse.com/> replacing libopenssl1_1-1.1.0h-4.2.x86_64
from vendor openSUSE

I'm assuming you have an active subscription since it's pulling that
patch? If you do select option 2, do you further descend in to
dependency hell?

The other option is to log into SUSE Customer Center at
https://scc.suse.com and raise a support request, or you can always
join https://community.suse.com and ask there as well (I can send an
invite if needed/wanted).
